$hexentanz:iconhexentanz: reports, July 18
Welcome to the weekly Help Desk Updates. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date news concerning the Help Desk & FAQ, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.

Free V6 Help

^Ikue:iconIkue: reports, July 11
Okay so if you haven't noticed V6 was launched late last night/early morning (depending on your time zone) to mixed reviews.

We as admins have had a little more time with it than the rest of the masses and as such I thought I would volunteer my knowledge with whomever is interested. Rather than complain that everything is different perhaps I can help show you how much more user friendly and easier the site is to navigate.

So... if you have a question concerning V6 please ask it. If you know of someone who is having troubles, please link them here. I will be updating this journal with your questions and hopefully answers to said questions.

Bug Juice Volume #23 - Weekly Bug Listing

$hexentanz:iconhexentanz: reports, July 13, 2007
We hope that this listing is as complete as possible, however sometimes bugs can occur after a 'Bug Juice' issue has been posted. In such cases these bugs will be posted to the Status Forum. If you do not find the bug you experience listed there, please contact the Help Desk, DO NOT USE THIS ARTICLE TO REPORT BUGS!

Introduction

Welcome to Bug Juice Volume Twenty-Three, the second weekly article delivered to you by the Help Desk Team.

This article is meant to serve as the current bug listing for users for issues on the main site, prints bugs will not be noted here. Bug Juice articles will repeat the bugs weekly until each issue is resolved and any new ones will be added when they arise, when an issue is resolved the bug will be crossed off and phased out of the listing the following week.

Links to this article will be mirrored in the Status Forum.

System

Now before we get started to help you better understand some of the Status Terms that will be used throughout this article we have compiled a listing of descriptions below.

Acknowledged - This means a case has been acknowledged as being present and will be worked on soon, but is not a high priority.

Assigned - This means the case has been assigned to a developer and is in review and will be worked on soon.

Closed - This means a report has been closed, either the issue will be worked on along with another one or the issue was found not to be present anymore or will not be fixed.

Feedback - This Status means a developer has requested further information from the administrator who filed the report before they can continue working on the issue.

New - This is a new report and has not been assigned to a developer yet.

Resolved - This issue has recently been resolved.

Clicking an underlined Status above will take you to that section.

The List

Acknowledged

1.) Submission Category Issues - We are currently aware of category oddness in the submission process. (IE: Fantasy is selected but the piece goes to anthro instead, etc)

Assigned

1.) Opera Mood Issues - Mood chooser displays incorrectly in opera.

2.) Favourites Counter Off - For some users their favourite counter on a deviation reports being in the millions or thousands.

3.) Download Issues for Mac Users - This issue affects .abr files types, when a user selects download to desktop random code is displayed instead of giving the user the actual file.

4.) Inaccurate Deviation View Counts - For some users their deviation view counts report views being in the millions or thousands.

5.) Deviation & Scraps Lag - Please see ([link]) for more details.

6.) Deviation Editing Issues - Some users report not being able to edit their deviations.

7.) Browse by Newest Issues - When browsing by category often the newest option will fall several days behind only to correct itself and fall back a few days later.

8.) devWATCH Dropping Users - For some users with long listings the devWATCH is dropping users off of it.

9.) Activity Log not reporting 'all' Recent Data - Some activity such as recent comments on deviations or in forum posts is not showing up in logs.

10.) v4 Forum Threads Issues - Older forum threads in personal user forums report an internal server error when trying to post data to them.

11.) Search Issues #1 - The Search feature is falling behind and not caching new data. Thus greatly affecting the search term by:username, or keyword searching for newer items.

12.) Search Issues #2 - At this time the search is currently running slow, which will result in less results showing then normal.

13.) Submission Issues - The option to submit .TIFF files at this time is not possible as it results in a corrupt file error, despite the file not being corrupt.

14.) devMobile Issues - After hitting send the site reports its under maintenance, the image still sends to your phone, but cannot be downloaded.

15.) Mature Content Issues - Mature content thumbs still display in journals and do not show the MC thumb.

16.) Journal Issues - Some users are unable to post journals, as the body of text will be missing once posted.

17.) Previous/Next - The Previous/Next buttons on deviation pages are often not behaving as they should and instead skip randomly through the gallery. (Related to Issues #11 & #12)

18.) Today Page Issues - The popular deviants section is frozen again.

19.) Favourites Issues - Some older deviations or deviations once in storage and then un-stored are resetting the counts once a new favourite is added.

20.) New User Account Issues - Accounts created from July 1st, 2007 and on are experiencing data issues. (IE: Posting blank comments/forum posts, devwatches not taking, etc)

21.) News Char Limit Issues - When posting even a small sized article within limits if one uses thumb codes etc and the code becomes too big once posted, data ends up being truncated.

22.) Deleted Items Leaving Trash in devWATCH - If a user posts a piece and then deletes it the devwatch occasionally leaves behind an empty box in it's place, acting as if something is really there to look at.

23.) Join Process Flaw - When trying to join if you have created one too many accounts under an email address and then are asked to recover one of these accounts clicking recover brings you to a file not found page. The same happens even if you have not created too many accounts and are asked if you wish to continue joining with the new name or to recover an old one.

24.) Lit. Preview Issues - Users are experiencing issues with the preview system when pieces are over 64kb in size.

Closed

1.) Non Latin Char Issues - Non Support causing issues all over. ( Will be fixed as soon as we switch to UTF-8 )

2.) Front Page Lag, not Updating as Often as it Should - Most users report this after having used the customize feature, however it is unrelated. This will often correct on it's own, only to return a few days later. ( Will be fixed along with another issue )

3.) Message Centre Issues - Message counters are inaccurate. ( Will be fixed in the new MSG Centre version )

4.) devWATCH Layout Change - Submissions are missing the date they were submitted and ordered incorrectly. ( Will be fixed in the new MSG Centre version )

5.) Downloadable Files from 2003-2004 Missing - You can read more by clicking here. ( Further details will follow soon )

6.) The letter P and Issues with P - Typing ';P results in an emote instead of plain text. ( Will be fixed as soon as we switch to UTF-8 )

Resolved

1.) Verify Page Flaw - Even when not logged in the verify page was stating that you could click on your username to begin, only if you were not logged in this was not an option.

2.) Verify Link Issues - Some email programs were botching the formatting of links in emails. Link formats have been changed so this no longer occurs.

3.) Deviation/Scraps Count Stats - When moving, deleting or storing items the counts were going haywire. This issue has been fixed for newer instances , users who were affected by this issue prior to the fix will need to have the count fixed manually, please click here and follow the step listed.

4.) Avatar/Website Button and Lit Tag Issues - At this time users are unable to upload an avatar, website button or lit tag. If one tries they're met with a maintenance screen.

5.) Storage Lag - Issues with storage lagging have been corrected for newer instances, please read ([link]) for how to apply the fix to older deviations affected by this issue.

Q&A

FAQ #722: Why do certain bugs take longer than others to be fixed?

FAQ #723: How come things are not better tested before they are released?

FAQ #724: Why do you put out new features when things are broken?

When using Opera 9.2x on Linux, I have not seen the Opera mood chooser bug.

Also, is assigned bug #15 (Mature Content problems) affecting the front page as well? I ask because I have the mature content filter on and it's still showing nude pictures on the frontpage.

It's more likely that they are waiting until they change to UTF-8 to fix it. ;P

I sure miss my journal. :( It'd be lovely to have some sort of status report on how the problem-solving is coming along. Been almost two weeks now it's been out of commission.

Can't wait until the scraps are fixed. They need to get off my front page... ): And it's been over 6-12 hours like it says as a lag for their movement, and they still show up in both galleries. ><!!
