reports, July 15, 2007Romanticism is an artistic, literary, and intellectual movement during the 18th century. This particular movement developed in Western Europe, mainly as a response to the Enlightenment Age which put more focus on usage of rationalism in literature and art.
Unlike the more science based art works, Romanticism put more emphasis on the supernatural and the emotional; in other words, more on the aspects of this world that cannot be explained in a book. Romanticism in visual arts can be distinguished by the emphasis on women, children, power of nature, and the supernatural
Even though Romanticism was an artistic movement of the past, its values are still visible in modern artworks. This feature is a tribute to Romantic photography pieces that are seen these days in our community
