How much do you love Superman?

*GermanCityGirl:iconGermanCityGirl: reports, 1d 6h ago
The house where Google was created is saved.

The farm where Hewlett Packard was founded is preserved.

And Richard Nixon’s house is a museum.

But the house where Superman — one of the world’s most recognized heroes — was created? It’s a wreck.

So, with the creation of The Siegel & Shuster Society, we hope to raise enough money to repair the house and make sure it will be saved, restored, and there so you can take your kids one day.

Bill Melendez Has Passed Away (1916-2008)

=javeman:iconjaveman: reports, 2d 5h ago
Jose Cuautemoc "Bill" Melendez started off as an animator for Disney and Warner Bros during the 30s and 40s, and later he moved on to UPA where he produced various commercials.

But he's most well remembered for producing (and sometimes directing) the Peanuts animated specials, where he also provided the voice for both Snoopy and Woodstock.

RIP Mr. Melendez. Your works will never be forgotten.

Comic Book Artists get an online trial balloon

*Kizziesama:iconKizziesama: reports, July 15, 2007
Apologies for not offering a link to the story, as it was handed to me by my father from our local paper :)

I figured I'd pass this on to any other aspiring comic artists out there that could really benefit from this:

DC comics introduced an online imprint that is accepting submissions from the public and paying for the best comics that are submitted!

"The site is called zudacomics.com, and they will be allowing aspiring comic artists to register to the site and submit an eight-panel sample of their work. Starting in October and each month thereafter, editors at DC Comics will select 10 entries, post them for public view and invite people to vote for their favorite. Editors may also declare as many as six submissions to be instant winners during the year."

Oh, and if you're worried about copyright issues:

"The copyright for each comic submitted to Zuda will be owned by its creator. DC will publish the winning/chosen comics under fairly conventional publishing agreements adapted to the peculiarities of the digital platform: initial payments for the work that is done, with royalties from revenues based on other uses, such as books, merchandise and movies/television shows. In the next couple of months the contracts will be going up on the site, and we're doing our best to make them as clear as possible, so people can make an informed decision about submitting their work."

you can check out more on this at the site [link]

Though it may not benefit me to know this, I know there are a ton of great comic artists on this site that truly deserve this chance to get a publishing deal, and how hard it is to come across such an opportunity. Go get them guys! Show them how great online comics and artists are! I wish you the best of luck!

aww, it's always worth trying for if you can. the only reason i didn't enter is well, for one the aspect ratio of the comic i have on my page is 3:4 and they require 4:3 :shakefist:. and even though it says they're accepting all comic types, i seriously doubt dc would be interested in manga
