1.
THE MIMESIS POETRY COMPETITION
What is Mimesis? Click here and here.
1st prize: 3 issue subscription, 3 month dA sub. Your submission will be submitted for possible publication in the next issue.
2nd prize: 2 issues, 1 month dA sub.
3rd prize: 1 issue and 1 month dA sub.
THE PROMPT WAS:
Take any old poem and redraft it; upload both to dA in one deviation. The prize will be given based on the improvement between drafts and the quality of the final poem.
Obviously if you start with a reasonably good poem, you have a better chance of ending up with one, but then the improvement won't look so great!
RESULTS
1st Prize goes to *jack-cade for his
banging-good redraft of
Love of Damage. Read both the original and new draft
here.
2nd Prize goes to `SparrowSong for her charming redraft of children's poem
Rain. Read both the original and new draft
here.
3rd Prize goes to =lovetodeviate for her acts of compression in redrafting the poem
Lovers. Read both the original and new draft
here.

I have an excuse for the mythology one because I know zilch about myths, but I have plenty of poems that could do with a fresh edit. I just haven't been in a writing mood these last few weeks. *sigh* I'm very pleased to see such a good turnout though. Now if the turnout had been miserable then I'd have felt really guilty.
I'm very looking forwards to the new Mimesis.
And well done to all the winners and honourables. :~)

Remeber that, when you're looking for the right words: You must ask yourself what they sound like. Glowing with passion, dark with sorrow, sweet with love...
