~
LineCount is a new feature project on dA designed to expose some excellent, if little-known, poetry. However, this project is not just looking for different types of poetry based on subject matter and intent, but we're also interested in bringing poetic
forms back to the forefront of quality writing on dA. There is so much "open" poetry anymore that the very best of it seems to get lost or undiscovered, and any form that isn't "open" is all but ignored. ~
LineCount intends to change that.
However, we can't do it without your help! In the interest of bringing the entire literature community back into the dA spotlight, ~
LineCount is actively seeking volunteers to help us find some remarkable poetry.
What would a volunteer have to do?
Once chosen for our staff, each member will be assigned a specific genre (usually the genre s/he applied for) to browse through for the month. Within that month, the staff member need only submit suggestions from two of the ten "form categories" on dA. For example, the person who is in charge of "nature" poetry can select a haiku and an open poem for that month--provided each falls under the "nature poetry" category on dA.
Yes, that's right: staff members need only suggest two poems per month, provided they are in two different forms. That said, staff members are welcome to suggest as many poems as they'd like in addition to their two required selections.
So, what genres are you interested in featuring?
If you are interested in applying for a staff position, please look through the genres below to see which you would prefer to browse through/search for each month:

Children's

Romantic & Erotic

Family Life

Horror & Macabre

Humor & Satire

Nature

Urban & Transgressive

Philosophical, Sociopolitical & Spiritual

Human Nature

Narrative

General Poetry
What forms are you interested in featuring?
Well, looking at dA's subcategories, we will be concentrating on:

Haiku & Eastern

Limerick

Ballad

Song

Sestina

Villanelle

Fixed

Sonnet

SpokenWord

Open
Aren't you missing a few?
As a matter of fact, yes: we are.

Old Poetry Structure

Experimental

Visual Poetry
Because we are bound by dA's organizational structure, the process for "Old Poetry Structure", "Experimental" and "Visual Poetry" will be a bit different. If you are interested in volunteering for one of those categories, kindly
send us a note so we can discuss the differences.
How can I help?
We thought you'd never ask. Kindly submit the following application as a NOTE to the ~
LineCount account. Please use "APP: [insert category you're applying for here]" as the note's title. Those notes that do not follow the application format will not be considered.
Note Title: APP: [insert category you're applying for here]
Please include the following information in the body of your note:

A brief, relatively honest blurb about yourself & why you'd like to be on staff

A brief explanation about why you've picked the genre you have

Two deviations that you would choose to feature from your desired genre. Each deviation you suggest must be in a different form. (Do not suggest two romantic "open" poems, etc.) Please do not suggest recent DDs (Daily Deviations).
For each deviation selected, please be sure to include the title, author, and a link to the actual deviation.
Do not include a link to the writer's gallery.
Deadline
Applications for this round of staff selections are due by
10 August 2007. Any applications received after that date will not be considered at this time.
New staff members and administrators will be announced on or near 25 August 2007.
Well, this sounds like a good idea, but I don't want to be on staff.
That's okay: we forgive you!
