Better Digital Photography Magazine-Free online

^kkart:iconkkart: reports, 10h 6m ago
From the Publishers of "What Digital Camera" and "Amateur Photographer", IPC Media today has announced a new online photography magazine, "Better Digital Photography" that people can read free and fully online, it is also interactive with embedding video tutorials from the magazine and mouse-over tips. Aimed at the entry and intermediate level photographer, it is heavily devoted to equipment and technique-focused photography content.

From the IPC Media website:

Publishing director Alex Robb says: “This is an exciting and innovative new venture for the photo portfolio. The editorial team have worked incredibly hard to create bespoke content, including technique videos and other interactive content. I am delighted that we have secured distribution to around two million photographers to ensure that as many people as possible benefit from the excellent tips and advice. Better Digital Photography is a further indication of how IPC continues to innovate in this competitive sector.”

Editor Mat Gallagher adds: “We wanted to create a product that helps the reader expand their knowledge, while being easy to use. It is thanks to the talents of art editor Steve Crabb that we have managed to produce such a visually stimulating and accessible magazine that surpasses anything else in the market place.”

My thoughts, this is downright awesome and VERY well done, it is like looking at an actual magazine, but the fact that it has videos embedded within for tips, tutorials, and techniques, make this even better! You can also subscribe for free, via email for upcoming issues, make personal notes within the magazine, and download a copy to your hard drive. GO GET IT!

Slugs and Snails featured in Photography

~Waratahra:iconWaratahra: reports, July 18, 2007
Introduction

Slugs and snails aren't usually seen as the most beautiful and useful of God's creatures. They are pretty slimy and leave a trail of shining mucus behind everywhere they travel. They eat Nanna's veggies, and she gets cranky and pulls out the salt shaker :noes:. They nibble on that that beautiful flower which you were planning to photograph :ohnoes: However, there is more to snails and slugs; this is evidenced by photography here on DeviantART. Note: Snails and slugs are gastropods, which is a class of mollusks. Therefore they should be classed into the "Wild Animals" category, not as Insects & Arachnids or as Reptiles & Amphibians, as I've seen done on DA =p

Snails and Slugs are masters of exploring frontier because of their special mucus. Some species of slugs even lower themselves to the ground using slime cords. Snails and slugs aren't afraid to go climbing up, hanging from weird places at angles, going across grainy and smooth surfaces as evidenced by these photographs...

Slugs and snails can even be found underwater. In fact, an Australian Marine species which can grow up to 77.2 cm (30 inches) in length, and 18 kg (40lbs) in weight, is the biggest of all snails.

Sometimes we find slugs and snails out of nature and making their way.... slowwwwly... Moving across and around human made objects. Some deviants even have the cheek to pick them up and move them =p

Sometimes we find snail shells... And as those on DA are an artistic bunch, we get creative with them :D

As humans, we are by nature, curious, so some like taking an even closer look at our slug and snail buddies :) Most slugs and snails have two pairs of feeler or tentacles on their head and the upper pair are light sensors.

Some even take their relationships with slugs and snails to the next level...:?
