My friend posted this in his journal and I think it's important enough that the whole world should take a moment to reflect on it. Yes..the world lost a talented performer and artist in Michael Jackson..but there are many more tragic deaths occurring daily all over the world that go unnoticed. Please give these heroes your prayers and thanks too.
CNN Money examines in depth the art site Etsy.com and the struggle it is currently facing to keep it's user base, fellow artist's like us on deviantART. It is a very interesting read, to say the least, and will surely raise a few eyebrows.
Gangs in the United States are not a new or recent phenomenon. Their history has been traced back to the post Revolutionary War days and originally they formed as a means of self-protection and as social clubs.
Are you depressed? Do you feel like you are a failure? Do you feel empty inside? Do you sometimes end up harming yourself, or punishing yourself in some way? Do you find yourself unable to handle stress sometimes?
This might help. Give it a read, it might change your life. It changed mine.

The Poverty Draft, Politics, Symbols, and the inconvenience of being human.
Even in times of war, the Soldier as an individual is of no consequence. The Soldier is a symbol, a simple pawn in a culture war. The Soldier is either a villain, or a Hero. The Soldier always serves for the honor of his country, not his paycheck. The Soldier is faithful, as there are 'no atheists in the trenches'. The Soldier is Combat Arms. The Soldier is male, he married a young white girl, and he has a baby on the way, whom he has never met.

Each week the *DAPoliticalForum Club harvests a plethera of quotes we branded SKULL ChatterTM. We invite you to share in some of the humour of the DA Political Forum.
This is just something that occured to me the other day and i figured why not share it with the world?
Many Deviants around the community tend to have more than one accounts. This results in a bit of a confusion and frustration on behalf of their friends and for the deviants themselves becomes a bit of an economical burden cause subs do cost.
The fact and my critical point is that nowadays we got three types of art in my opinion:
a. Display Art: Under this falls any type of creative art from painting to photomanip and from writing to photography. This is the type of art you want to have in your main gallery, the art to show off to your friends and the world.
b. Utilitarian Art: Under this label falls everything that has to do with art on a daily, utilitarian bases. This includes all types of skinning. Skins and themes for all kinds of programs may be plesant and nice to view, but putting a WMP skin next to your newly drawned painting really just doesn't seem to fit well.
c. Resource/Stock Art: This is the type of art you would like to see being used by others. Either as stock photos or as any other type of resource (brushes, .psd, 3D models, etc) this type of art is yet again being different and doesn't again fit in with the two above.
In that respect Deviants tend to create separate account to keep their Stock away from Art and their Skins away from all the else. Well can't DA do something about this? Is there any way to resolve the issue?
Brainstorming yesterday just pulled up a rather easy solution. That is where the Tabs come around. As of DA v.5 all users have five main tabs on their profile page which are: Profile, Gallery, Faves, Prints and Journal. Well why not add two more? Put a Stock/Resources and a Skins Tab in there and you have it! A complete account for every multitasking deviant. On the coding issues for this i think it is rather simple. A query or tag search is already installed within the system, making the separation of files easy. So by adding some additional code this will result in having three types of gallerias on the same page:
a. Display Art: For all interested in any art forms that you create.
b. Utilitarian Art: For all interested in skins.
c. Resource Art: For all who want to use art bits which you offer to the public.
Adding separate counters for each type of gallery on the profile page would be a most welcoming addition too.
The pros of this are already obvious:
a. Less confusion with multiple accounts.
b. Less traffic for the site and improvement of its speed.
c. Not having to log on and off multiple accounts which saves alot of time.
d. One subscription will be enough to cover all your needs. No need for two or three subs just to be able to show the world all the aspects of your creativity.
e. Each deviants page will be showing a more complete and all around image of his identity, not just the artist, the skinner or the stock/resource master side.
But as every step towards improvement this might have some negative features as well:
a. Users with big galleries in Stock and Art might have trouble moving there stuff all in one place. Here DA might be generous enough as to implement account migration utilities so that users can easily move all there stuff in one place.
b. You might lose PVs and other stats from accounts merging. But hey we are here for the art and NOT for the numbers. Right?
With all these said i raise the question: What do you say? Would these measures make a better DA v.6? Can this help the community to grow and make deviants happier all around?
I think it's a good idea but just one thing I directly thought about: how many people have more than one account? Are there enough to make it worth to put all the effort and time, which would be needed for the change, in it? And maybe it's a good idea to make those 2 tabs optional? Or only for subscribed deviants? I think it's important to know how many deviants this would help.
i had also thought this before and i agree with you! they must find a simple way to manage this, at least for the basic types of art! like separating photography from digital art.. well at least this..
Well i don't know for within display art if it is easy to make separations, but at least on major art types they should. It's one thing to skin, another to make art and a very different one to make resources. Alas i think there is this upcoming feature that will allow this. Something like making folders with different types of art.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
