Welcome to the 17th article in the Nightmare Collection series. The Nightmare Collection has been taking a break and is now back after a month and I've been seeing so many amazing horror photos over the last month that I couldn't resist doing a photography-only article to showcase these fantastic images. Horror photography isn't just fake blood and graveyards (although that stuff is all good) - it's about fear, anxiety, demons, superstitions and disturbing stuff in general.

While most photographs undergo a certain amount of processing and alteration, whether in the traditional darkroom or digital darkroom, it's impossible not to respect the time and effort that does into creating the amazing make-up, costumes and props in the images below. Horror photography is an admirable art, one that is often over-looked and misunderstood (especially by people who automatically assume that special effects are AFTER-effects).
