You might even be one hell of a profesional, but if you don't SHOW it and PROVE it, how will everyone know? These facts are important not only when you are looking for a job, but in any situation when you wish to showcase your work. I decided to share a few guidelines that might help you give the best of yourself and help you be a better profesional.
Current trend on placing personal political comments in Political or Military Photojournalism Daily Deviations is making many others uncomfortably worried. What's going on and what can be done about it?
Do you do your share to make your school, your community, and the world a better place? Do you take responsibility for what goes on around you, participate in community service, help take care of the environment, be a good neighbor, treat other people with respect and dignity, follow the rules of your family, your school, and your society? Are you politically knowledgeable and active? What does it mean to you to be a citizen?

While its not uncommon to not want critique, no matter the circumstance it does not give the artist the right to harass, taunt, report, or insult the other person.
Maru continues rambling about the issue of tracing on deviantART. Thoughts about the new(?) fan art "vector" category, an admin's statements about fan art, and the drama surrounding the AX poster contest.
OK. Al Gore's made tons of money with his Inconvenient Truths, there's been a pop-rock concert and tons of revelations around this whole "climate crisis". Scientists are arguing, coal companies are blushing, and yet we're buying record amounts of gas despite the record-high prices.
I want everyone to shut up. Americans are dumb asses; stupid, incompetent fools who will drive those massive SUVs around till the day of the apocalypse. No matter how much "knowledge" goes around, no matter how much bullshit the car companies feed us about "higher standards", no matter how freakin' hot it gets, face it. NOTHING IS HAPPENING. NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING.
People will profit off this global warming crisis: bands will be cool by playing in a concert to save the planet, Al Gore will continue to make movies and give speeches, but nothing will happen to stop it.
There are engines that've been sitting around for 15 years that would get 100 MPG, yet its still sitting around. They Killed the Electric Car while they were at it, too. Cigarette companies continue to destroy the ozone, the power used to keep my monitor working so I can type this is still fueled by burning coal. The government still continues not giving a crap.
No matter how many shorts on MTV come up about some local band who's van runs on used corn oil annoy me, no matter how many hypocritical concerts annoy me, no matter how many "consumer friendly" car commercials annoy me, we're still screwed.
No body is doing anything about our planet, and not one of us can do anything about it. You could get your whole damn town to kick their cars and ride bikes and grow their own food and use wind energy for their homes, but guess what? It doesn't mean jack shit on the planetary scale. Does it?
The government, the only people who could take the major steps needed to save us all, is fast asleep. And they're so sleepy because of all the money they're making. Same for those companies: they can charge so much for gas, make so many SUVs, so much dirty energy, so many cigarettes, so much aerosol, and so much paper (which leaves us with less trees to absorb CO2) because 98% OF THE POPULATION IS STILL BUYING IT.
So unless you're going to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, sit down and shove that awareness back up your ass, where it came from in the first place.
i very much agree with everything u have to say... but its not just america, its the whole world.
even if america some how gets better theres till india with its gigantic orange cloud of pollution thats visible from space
then theres the middle eastern countries that give off gigantic plumes of CO2 to make our precious oil.
and every 3rd world country out there that are going to drastic measures just to survive,
and what about all the nuclear waste?... yah we are making an impenetrable fortress in arizona to house it.. but what about europe which used to dump it all into the atlantic. and then china and russia what do they do?
in short with AIDs, the chicken flu, war, poverty and global warming.. we have pretty much screwed our selves over. its not just america... its every one.
except for brazil.. which now entirely runs on "clean" fuels.. except its nuclear fuels..and they are destroying the amazon.. every time we take one step forward,,, we take like 20 backwards.
either we pull our selves together and become one.. or.. find a new planet.. maybe alpha centari only 25.8 trillion miles away
you might say why dont you do something about it.. well contrary to popular belief.. it takes hundreds maybe even thousands to change the world.. no one man or woman can change the world
no one man or woman can change the world what i'm really annoyed at is when people make such a huge profit by pretending they can in the midst of this mess.
With respect, how does this help? You've asked people to honestly "do something", yet you offer no solutions or guidelines on what should be done.
It is apparent that grassroot efforts to introduce "green technologies" and reduce waste don't impress you, as you've written them off as "too small to do anything".
While you concentrated on the efforts of celebreties, you ignored the efforts that governments and intergovernmental groups are attempting. The UN IPCC, has been working to define the scope of the climate change problem - outlining the expected changes to our planet, and what they will mean for human civilization, and what should be done to mitigate those effects. (fellow Deviants can follow the IPCC and read the latest reports at the following website: [link] ) And there is the Kyoto Protocol, which was the first attempt to tackle climate change on a global level - granted, it has its faults, but when you're working on trying to get the world's nations to cooperate on a global problem, this isn't a bad start. Don't these efforts deserve recognition?
In other words: what kind of solution are you looking for, and what is the timescale that you expect this solution to be enacted? What do you *want* from humanity?
tru there are many things like the kyoto protocol, and governments trying to do something, and even smaller companies and groups trying to get the word of "green" tech out there.
the problem is that we already have ruined the planet beyond a way back.
practically every large glacier out there has melted off or has lost most of its mass..
and the kyoto protocol is a great idea. actually getting the whole world to agree on something is a gigantic step.
but the problem is that the US .. that one big country thats spewing out tons of CO2 and other green house gases is not in that protocol.
and india and china home of millions, and great pollution has "special" privileges to not required to lower emissions
but atleast india is doing something with their air powered car.
i dont think is trying to say no ones helping.
every one is trying their best efforts.
but at teh same time how many people are trying to make money off of this.
and great if half teh world is trying to reduce emissions. the US and other countries are still spewing out tons of green house gases.
as long as companies who supply us with oil, gas, and the great lump of black decaying matter *coal* try to help us .. we are all doomed..
we can reduce emission till 2100 teh damage is done..
people think you can stop global warming you cant.
everyone wants teh magic 100 MPG carberator
but as long as gas companies want more money that idea is long forgotten.
they only way we will successfully slow down global warming is by forgetting about money and trying to save our asses so we can live to make more money!!!
days like this i wish i lived in a star trek like world.. where money is a thing of the past. and holodecks can make my every twisted fantasy true..
in the end one hot day might bring the demise of the human beings..
for every one who wants to do some thing to help slow down global warming, there are many guide lines all across the internet each and every one of them tell the same thing.
- carpool
- stop wasting water
- change ur bulbs to the compact flourescent ones that last longer and save electricity
-stop leaving ur lights on
-throw out ur old crappy appliances and get new energy efficient ones.
-you dont need bigger and faster as long as it does what its supposed to ur good enough.
-turn of you ac and computer when you dont need them
the only problem is even if you do this.
there are still millions of people driving cars
america is still making thousands of SUVs that make less than 30 MPG
and even if you are doing some thing above 30MPG. your only a small percent of the population.
and we stil have coal and fossil fuel plants producing tons of CO2
new plans to trap CO2 into the ground is a viable idea, but it has many bugs and its not easy to trap gas
