The photographic genre of surrealism had only been partly explored by well known artists such as Man Ray, Z. beksinski, Hans Bellmer, and Salvador Dali...
few of them rarely did great works in the genre and very very few female surrealists even journey to this type of media...
But None could contest that one of the greatest female surrealist photographer is here thriving in the silent halls of Deviant ARt..
It is my honor and pleasure to introduce to you Lauren e. Simonutti one of the treasure of the Surreal Arts club...
*
lauren-rabbit works are necrocephalic infestations of paradoxical sill lifes, ghostly metaphysical creatures, enveloped in infinite sense of mystery...they are vestigial apparitions of rustic forms metamorphosing into physiological gemstones...figures of speech in visual code...metaphors of hallucinations...Ectopic Photohallucinations!!!
Her works are "100% digital free.
Any manipulation has been done either in camera (occasionally)
or in darkroom (usually)." very few may be able to recreated her darkroom masterpieces, and it shows of her mastery in form, color and composition...she is truly the WOMAN RAY of today's
surreal photography, the epitomy of those that regard photography as an art as opposed to commercial photography..

Excerpts on her Jounal:
The future unreal
Used to be my mind was like a friendly if spirited seemingly obedient dog. You cut it loose and it runs off for days, until you ever wonder if it will come back.
It always did eventually- dirty, a little cut up, and carrying a bone in its mouth which later turned out to be human.
These days, I have this cartoon in my head whenever I think about it. It is of a brain bouncing around in a large backyard attached to a long chain, the other end of which is spiked to the ground. Etched into the spike are the letters Li3. It still has plenty of room to move around and can go in any direction but at least you know it is somewhere in the yard.
I have been setting it loose in any direction for the past few days to see what it would come home with and it brought me back a fragment of a conversation I had had years ago while living in New York. A former friend and I were having a drink or 2 too many and got onto the subject of our favourite verb tenses. I was informed that there is a verb tense called the future unreal. It is the proper conjugation for a future impossibility, such as If I were you. I find this delightful when both drunk and sober, a rarity for late night inane conversation.
It is an idea with which I have been playing. Not actively, just tossing it up in the air and letting my brain play with it like a chew toy.
I have never been able to intentionally photograph an abstract. And I still do not know what my new subject will be. I try not to think about things so concretely. But the seed of the future unreal has been planted and may run like a current under the surface as I start taking pictures again.
Its a riptide I may ride for a while.
