Unlike American Idol and other highly revered Pop Idol competitions; DevIdol does not require you to sing.

However, the concept is the same. While auditions will be held, three judges have stepped up to carefully select 24 out of the many contestants that dare to challenge their skills. Best of all, all forms of art will be accepted: Digital, Traditional, Anime/Manga, Photomanips, Literature, all art mediums are allowed in the competition if they can be made to fit accordingly.

For this contest the judges will be picking contestants based on art quality, effort, and originality. When the actual contest starts with the contestants, the people of deviant art will vote on who gets to go to the next level of the competition.

What will be required of you for this competition?

You will have the chance to audition your very own original Character!

What does your original character have that others don't? What makes them so special? What makes them shine? In a contest such as this you will have an oppurtunity to showcase one character of your choice every month for the next twelve months under a different theme each month. And the people of deviant art will get to vote on who they think shines the most in artistic skill and creativity. Your character can be from any style and genre as long as they are your original characters.

Here is the tricky part: You are only allow to audition ONE and ONLY ONE of your own ORIGINAL characters. Once you have been chosen as a contestant you can only present that one character for the ENTIRE competition until the most favourite character has been chosen by our fellow deviants.

Out of all the auditions who will be judged fairly and without prejudice, 24 Contestants will be carefully chosen at which after choosing will bear the responsibility to complete a single work of Art to be presented for the competition per month. The Judges will comment on the pieces, however the winner will be decided by poll votes from the deviants.
