" Records Everyday Life On Film "
It's hard for me to remember exactly when I realized I had creative talent. However, I am very fortunate to have a wonderful family that has always encouraged me. I have been involved in art since before I can even remember; I know I have my mother to thank for that. I also thank her for buying me my first camera for my 11th birthday. It was one of those auto focus film cameras but that is all I needed to learn how much I loved looking through a viewfinder. It was also my mother who gave me my first SLR. It was the Minolta that she used when she was my age. My old cameras have since stopped working and my tools have changed but I remember what I learned from them. I am now enrolled to VCU thanks to the financial help from my father and a wonderful high school experience. My high school art teacher, Angelia Thorn, and photography teacher, Chris Jones, were a wonderful help. I graduated in 2006 the president of the NAHS and a artistic scholarship.I was accepted into the photography department at VCU this past semester after completing the AFO program with a 3.0gpa. I will continue to pursue my degree while working on the side to make my dream job a reality. I now work with a Nikon d70s, Nikon N75, Canon sd630, and will soon be purchasing either a Mamiya RB67 or Mamiya RZ67 medium format.

" Experimenting Photographer In Progress "
Im a French man, 38 years old, married with 3 children. Ive always been a photography lover. Long before Internet allowed me to stock pictures on a computer I used to cut photos that I liked out of magazines. Ive started to take my own photos only a few years ago. Ive started to take photos of my children with a Canon Elan and then photos of the ocean and then of the sky but it was not enough. Two years ago, with a borrowed compact digital camera I started secretly to take nude photos of myself. Why nudes ? Because I love the way light plays on skin and human form, because I love erotism too, because it was the easiest topic with that camera too. Why myself ?
Because I didnt have any model. So in a way Im as much a photographer as a model though Id rather take photos of female models than myself. Why secretly ? Because some people would think that shooting photos of yourself nude with a small compact digital camera - might look more like a pervert activity than learning to be a photographer
A few months ago, Santa Claus brought me a wonderful gift : a digital SLR Camera. A whole new freedom was offered to me. With a faster and sharper camera, Ive started to take photos of buildings, streets, anything
but mainly buildings. In fact I dont see many differences between architectural and nude photography. Its just a question of light and how it reacts on matter, on skin
. Im learning, as fast as I can. Im just a two years old photographer after all. What I like on DA is sharing my pictures, sharing my thoughts, and learning from other people who try to improve.

" Scratching That Creative Itch "
In my youth I had many creative outlets; programming, photography, music and writing. As I entered adulthood, I gradually let photography, music and writing fall by the wayside and started programming professionally. I couldn't have been happier being a professional programmer for the first five years or so. Somebody was paying me to do something I loved and would have done anyway. I got my creative itch scratched and payed my bills. I didn't stress too much that I didn't have as much time for the other things because I still felt satisfied by my drive to find original solutions to complex problems and author ever more elegant code. Then about three years ago, I found I was unsatisfied much of the time. I found that the programming I was being asked to do wasn't fulfilling my creative itch like it used to. I was solving many of the same problems I was before. It had become a job. One I still love, but not one that left me fulfilled. Lucky for me, right at about the same time digital SLRs reached a capability and price level that they got interesting. So I purchased a Canon Digital Rebel. Things started slow as I had no habit of taking photos, but over time I have reawakened atrophied muscles and now think I am more skilled at getting my shot then I ever was. I love to create beautiful images and I hope you enjoy seeing them as well.

" Forever Learning "
My name is Katelyn. I'm 17 years old and I'm actually an aspiring film maker. I got into photography at first because I have an absolutely horrible long-term memory and it seemed the most efficient way to remember the stories from my life that I so desperately wanted to eventually put on film. Then I joined Deviantart and it changed everything. I'm a true child of DA. Everything I've learned about photography, I learned from other members here. I started to see what I was doing right and wrong, what I could do to improve, what seemed to work with the DA public and what didn't... and I started seeing photography as another outlet for my stories rather than just a reminder to myself. With photography, I could show people my memories and my own view of the world just like I someday wanted to do with film and I could make it all more beautiful than I even remembered. I love to refer people who are new to photography to my gallery because it's very easy to see how much I've learned in just over a year of being on this site. It didn't take me long here to realize that I had a great love of street photography and now-a-days that love and everything else I've learned here are being applied to the movies that I'm finally experienced enough to make. I now plan to go into cinematography so that I can include my new-found love into my all-along dream.

" Putting A Bit Of Thought To The Image "
I'm a young photographer, seeking for perfection and unwilling to take easy ways for achieving popularity. Photography is what I do for my own pleasure, and I hope to encounter people who will find it interesting watching my works. The biggest compliment for me is when people say that my works have made them think, because I try to reflect a certain thought through each and every photo I take. Sometimes they are disturbing, sometimes calm, sometimes weird, but they all reflect my vision. The most interesting sceneries for me are those, which depict the difference, the dialog and sometimes the arguing between man and the world he's living in. Still, I am evolving as a person and who knows what interests and thoughts will be reflected in my works a year later. The most interesting artists, that I have encountered on DeviantArt are those who don't take easy routes and pursue in making their own kind of photography, very distinct and original. I also found lately that I'm a big fan of erotic nudes - you can see it from my Favorites section. I really enjoy watching talented photographers as they transform the sexual energy of the model into a sensuous depiction of human beauty. I am also involved in music - I play the guitar in progressive death metal band Neuromist, and the link to my band's page can be found on my DA account. So feel free to enjoy, argue and comment!

" Photography Is My True Passion "
I'm Jeff O'Neal, and I'm 21 years old. I live in Jakarta - Indonesia.
Wow, this is actually the first time I write about my small biography, which is so hard... I started taking photography classes when I was studying abroad at Pasadena City College, Califonia - USA. I lived there for about 4 1/2 years. Had a great time over there. I'm a movie freak, I love to watch any kind of movies. I was taking film/video major in my college at first - Inspired by Quentin Tarantino movies! but times goes by, I realized that my true passion is photography. Picked up a camera in 2004. Since then I started taking picture with my brother's analog camera. Taking shots of everything that I thought were good... I had to go back to my country for good - Indonesia - in May 2005. Didn't finish my college. Bought my first Digital SLR - Canon 350D - the first month I got back, and been using it until now (no money to buy a new one hahaha). I have two Digital SLR (1 Canon 350D and 1 Canon 350D InfraRed Version 5) and some lenses...Took couple photocourses here, which is a waste of money I think. Because I didn't get anything from it. I own a small photography business called "Poetih Photography". Well, trying to make some money to get more equipments hahaha! I'll take any kind of photo projects - from Products, Fashion, Glamour, Weddings, etc. (anything that pays good). So far, I got many Pre-wedding and Wedding photo projects for my clients. Which is boring I think *because I love landscape/outdoor photography* I think thats about it. There's a lot more to tell but I couldn't write it down because it's hard to write it in English hahahaha. And yeah, got so many inspirations from Deviantart! awesome site! I love it....the artists there are amazing.. sometimes they made me want to quit from photography hehehe. Thanks... regards, Jeff O'Neal.

" A Spunky, Optimistic Redhead "
Spunk On A Sticks interest in photography began at a young age. Her father had spent his years after WWII exploring and photographing the Rocky Mountains, producing thousands of beautiful B&W pictures. He continued to perfect his skill by converting to slide film and manually estimating every exposure. Spunky watched him write down every setting, intrigued by the entire process. When he passed, she inherited his equipment, negatives, and countless logbooks. She began doing her own photographs at the age of twelve. As an uninhibited youth, she took pictures of everything, using the element of surprise on her family quite often. Animals and scenery became her primary focus and she even captured one of Mt. St. Helens eruptions. After taking her first B&W photography class in high school, she set a goal of becoming a professional one-day. She continued her B&W lab work and served on the yearbook staff. A job with a contracting companys photography department brought new experience and in 1990, Spunky purchased a Nikon 8008. After purchasing an enlarger, she began processing and printing her own B&W film. By the following year, she was doing stock photography for several magazines under the name Photo Impressions. Spunky continued working in the custom photo lab industry and began doing freelance work. When the stock photography industry began using less B&W, she expanded her services to include weddings and portraits. B&W photographers were becoming rare in her area and she capitalized on her ability to do location portraits as opposed to studio work. She also became involved with the local photo club. In 2004, pursuit of another dream, becoming an author, began reducing her photography work. Spunky ceased to do weddings, as they occurred on weekends, and slowly phased out her portraits. Acquiring two digital cameras last year reinvigorated her creativity, however. No longer confined to doing utility photos, she has been free to experiment and try new things. She has even participated in several joint gallery showings. Passionate and enthusiastic, Spunk On A Stick continues fine-tuning her skills and discovering her new niche as a photographer! Thanks so much! Spunky Diane.

" Open Your Mind For Creativity "
Hey there! My name is Sebastian, 25 years, from Germany. I am interested in photography since my multimedia design study round about one year ago. During my study I hadn't much time to get out to make some shots and I hadn't enough money for a nice cam also, but I learned a lot about colors, angles, lights. shadows and so on.... Now I'm a deviant since march 2007 and I'm loving it. Since two months I've got my brand new Nikon D40 - it really hurt my moneybag and I worked in a 2nd job on weekends to get all the money for it but now it's over and I'm totally in love with the cam. At DA I love the community. I love to speak to people with the same interests to improve my style. I appreciate comments and critique on my pictures (favs and watches ofcourse). I'm always open minded for tips and different kind of views. I accept everyone's opinion because if we all would love the same style, the world would be boring. My pics can be portraits, still life, nature, plants or urban - I want to be as flexible as I can. At the moment I am working on my own website to make my work more public. Ok, enough words wasted now.... Thanks a lot to Wodan for his great support. I hope you guys like my work, if so...slap me a visit, write some comments or just a "hello"!

" A Little Scottish Photographer "
Sup?! i'm marty bell, and i'm 16 from a tiny little village called beauly, in scotland. firstly i don't like capital letters they are so harsh and formal. i'm trying my best to get a ' photographer ' status.. i like to take the scenery around where i live and make it into a pretty picture, places that people who live here take for granted. i've never had any lessons in photography or classes but i wish i had and i hope to soon, but not to try and make a career, i'm always gonna keep it as just a hobby. i've only ever shot digitally and would loove to try developing my own pictures.. it looks so much more personal, and rewarding! i like to skateboard, snowboard and go to see bands play at huuge festival and gigs! i take pictures at alot of gigs but hardly ever put them up on deviantart! i find it really hard trying to improve just now, because the areas i want to experiment in seem to be so expensive to get the equipment.. and i only have a job from 9 til 3 at a boat yard on a saturday, making about £25 a week! so i am starting entering photograph competitions to fund my hobby! donations!? i don't like being 16 on here because people will say your work is good, 'for being 16' but i just want to be good! and not just for my age, i want real harsh criticism that doesn't involve my age, so please comment some of my pics! marty ahoy!

" Photographer From The Heart "
Hi, this is Vivi from Germany. Although this title may sound a bit exaggerated, I think it's what best describes my attitude torwards photography. I've always loved taking photos, especially of sunsets, people and landscapes (unfortunately I don't find too many people willing to let me take photos of them...^^, maybe things will improve someday). I'm kind of a different personality, for I love guy's stuff like the military, weapons, jets, electronics etc., but when it comes to me as a person, I'm surely a bit strange, but you know? That's what makes humans special! My photos are made to describe certain situations I face and they help me to overcome them. therefore I hope they touch other people the way they touch me. Ofcourse I'm not yet a professional at editing photos or creating concepts, but I'll henceforth do my very best to improve. :3 Consequently I feel greatly honoured by the fav's and watches I receive, but I also greatly appreciate the comments and hints. In the future I want to study "visual- and motiondesign" at the university in Berlin and I'd like to become a professional photographer. To fullfill my dreams however, I need some feedback to see whether or not I'm able to keep up with other artists. So please take a look at my works and tell my what you think of them...Thanks for the attention.
