Weekly Help Desk Updates - July 27th,2007
Introduction
Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.
Hexe's Corner
This week I would like to refresh on an old topic. This topic being that when you experience a bug the proper place to report it is to the
Help Desk, please do not file bug reports on our user pages, in random news articles or direct them to us via notes.
By sending reports to the
Help Desk directly this allows us to see important information about your browser that we would otherwise not see elsewhere. By seeing this information it allows us to better help solve your issue.
Ewm's Corner
This week I would like to discuss the importance of providing
links to deviations and/or title names when writing about them in a
Help Desk ticket. On a daily basis the CEA team is busy deleting deviations that are against policy and Gallery Directors are moving deviations that are in the incorrect category. If this happens to you and you are unsure about why this occurred, the best thing to do is send in a ticket to the
Help Desk.
Since the
Help Desk is not involved in the moving and deleting of deviations we will not know exactly which deviations were moved or deleted. If your deviation is still available please provide us with a link to the deviation, but if it is completely missing or deleted the name of the title is just as helpful. When links or titles are provided we are able to forward your ticket immediately to whichever department needs to handle your situation.
Here are two examples.
Example Message:
Hi,
Why did you move my deviations to scrap.. they do not belong there?
If this user has numerous scrapped images it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly which ones they might be talking about. If links to the deviations are provided we can immediately look at the deviations, find out what department we need to send it to, and then we can forward it to that department. Since this user did not provide this information, we would need to ask them which ones have been moved and their ticket will take a bit longer to get resolved.
Example Message:
Hi,
I had the following 3 deviations moved [link], [link], [link]. I do not understand why these deviations were moved could you please explain why this happened to me?
With this message, we know exactly which three deviations they need to know more information about and since it was provided, we can send them directly to the Gallery Director in question to be reviewed.

Hi guys! This week I'd like to talk about how to find what has been previously mentioned in your
Help Desk tickets. Knowing where to look can help out if you've submitted multiple inquiries on different issues and you're just not sure which one we've replied to.
There are two ways to access the "parent" links. These allow you to see the older comments made in a ticket. In your message centers, for subscribers the "parent" link will be at the very bottom of the individual comment boxes. For non-subscribers, to access a reply you will need to click on the comment link given, which will take you to the normal comment box. Once again, the "parent" link will be at the bottom. By clicking on this link you can see previous messages all the way up to the original inquiry.
Using the parent link will remind you what your original ticket said as well as see the any previous information we've given you.
Weekly Tip
