Director of Artist Relations


Hello!

The purpose of Artist Relations is to strengthen the community spirit as well as network with fellow artists so that we may bring outside opportunities to you, and help you to hone your skills. The Gallery Directors are the first people you should go to regarding your galleries. They are the people you need to make gallery suggestions to, and ask questions about your specific genre, or seek knowledge from. They also act as your lifeline to the administration. They are here to support and listen, and I can tell you we've got incredibly talented, devoted and passionate people on this team, so get to know them!


The 'frequently used category' option causes a couple of problems

1. It's a one click ability for someone who constantly miscats just because they want to submit and could care less where. You could argue they'd do this anyways if we removed it and that's true, but make them work a little for it.

2. For categories that have been closed or locked... if that category is in the persons 'frequently submitted to' list of links, they can submit to it. This also happens if a person has been blocked from a category.

So if john submits a picture of his ass to the artisan crafts -> architectural category

dedredhed moves the deviation to scraps and blocks it from the artisan crafts -> architectural category

john resubmits it, selecting the category from his frequently submitted to link.

and we just wasted our time.

Removing the option all together is something we wanted to avoid so IT has devised the following rules that will take effect tomorrow:


1. if there are at least two miscats in a category over last month, that category gets dropped from 'frequent used'


2. if there are at least 15 miscats total over the last month, the frequently used menu is dropped alltogether

If the number of miscats submitted goes down, the menu will come back. This method allows us to keep this much loved feature around without suffering the downsides of abusers. Good behavior pays off.

A brand spanking new macro gallery has been creating the photography main gallery. News items will follow from the photography gallery directors but I made it so I get to say it first muwha. So here it is:

I am still working line by line through the submission menu set up to find the glitches that are there. Some category links were set up incorrectly and we are aware and fixing them now. Thank you for reporting the errors Should you continue to find them, just send them to me via note and I'll add them to the list. At this point I think I've identified all of them so chances are they've already been reported and I'd like to avoid flooding the help desk anymore.

I have noticed and increase in people sending notes to myself or my gallery directors to report policy and copyright violations. Please file help desk tickets for this. My team does not deal directly with violations and it's absolutely necessary to keep running records of instances that occur, so we will direct you back to the help desk to ensure proper protocol. Thank you.
