It's a condition found in 1 out of 23 people, most commonly occuring in women. Dictionary.com states that it is, "A condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color." So there you have it.
The images presented are either works of synesthetic work (apparently commonly practiced in phycology classes) or the work of an actual synesthete who was influenced by their synesthesia. Hope you like 'em!
