As a Staff member at *ProjectComment, it is my duty to seek out Deviations one week or older with 0-5 original comments. I am in charge of the Anthro category.
These choices are forwarded onto the admins and then featured in a news article to help give a wider audience to these under-appreciated artists by exposing them to a group of people willing to leave original comments.
An original comment is not something like: "cool", "I like it" or "nice."
You can help too. Drop a constructive, thought out comment on these artworks if you find the time. It would be greatly appreciated by both parties!
Within this article are my feature picks for this month.
This article is the most all inclusive, accurate, and informational resource for every question you have about the Furry Fandom. It Provides a complete chronology of Anthropomorphic Characters & Concepts throughout history, And CLEARLY Defines what this "fandom" is all about.
Before you read this little blurb I'm writing and think to yourself "Why do I care? Furries are weird people" Reconsider your thinking. If you enjoyed Disney films and Old-skool cartoons to any degree, then you share an interest with millions of people world wide. You don't have to be obsessed. You don't have to be attracted to a Vixen built like a brick house. You don't have to draw talking animals.........
all you have to do is appreciate animals, objects, or natural phenomena that can relate to you, emotionally, behaviorally, and to some degree, physically.
Obviously there will be people who prefer not to be labeled. But please make sure you have read what the entire article presents before you take offense to this. Because really if you've truly read it, there is no reason to.
A very interesting read for anyone who has doubts or concerns. Highly educational and you'll get a history lesson too. Check it out!
Much appreciation goes to the author of this Document. I did not write this, and the article does not reflect my opinion. But there is a lot of good useful info in there that will get you thinking.

The Best of the Best: The Anthro-Alliance's Guide to DA's Anthro Artists!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I admit it -- I'm a "Featured Artist" nut. There's nothing I love more than browsing the galleries at DA and picking out the anthro gems. Except pie. I love pie more.
But instead of just hiding these in my Favorites Section, the *Anthro-Alliance will be putting out weekly issues of the AA's Guide, complete with interviews in future issues. For now I'll kick things off with a bang by featuring some of the hotest Anthro artists out there. Some are well-known for what they do, while some are really not visited as much as they should be.
Because this is a general publication I've kept all the features clean and in good taste.
Future issues will mostly include artists who aren't that well known -- and while we actively hunt for them in the Anthro Gallery, you can suggest them to us! Here are the rules for suggesting an *Anthro-Alliance news article feature:
1.) Please do not suggest yourself. I don't want hurt feelings if you're not chosen.
2.) Up to 5 suggestions per note -- only one note per week please.
3.) Title your suggestions New Article Feature Suggestion. Please only send the note to the club.
4.) Include a link to the piece.
5.) Tell me why you're suggesting each picture.
6.) If your suggestion isn't featured, please no nasty notes.
7.) I prefer artists who aren't OMG famous -- while I will take suggestions for the pieces, I will be trying to feature artists who actually need the exposure.
Well that'll be all for this week! Tune in same time next week for more great Anthro Gallery art!
EXCELLENT!!! I found about 10 artists that I was already watching and 12 new ones that I loved and added to my list... thank you for taking the time to post this selection.

Okay, it's too late to browse them properly right now, but I've looked at the thumbs, many of artists I already know, and others I don't yet and want to. So cool...!
And... I'm on this list. (blushes) Thanks... it wasn't something I would have expected, but I am quite flattered.

>.> I kind of don't see how you're classifying some of these images as 'Anthromorphic'. Lion king from Tigon? Dolphy and Evana's images aren't completely anthromorphic either. Anthros mean the animals possess human characteristics, such as opposable thumbs and fully developed hands, bi-pedal abilities, and in short the only thing remaining animal about them is the fact that they're humans in fur. XD. Alot of the images are good, but it seems like we're justifying more of the famous 'beastial arts' of the popular artists.
Anthropomorphic: n. Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena.
------------------------------------------------------------------
The concept of an anthropomorphic being is actually pretty broad and not limited to those who are bi-peds with thumbs. Even talking to your cat as if he or she understands you is anthropomorphizing the cat in your eyes. This can even be extended to inanimate objects -- a prime example of this is Cogsworth and Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast.
What you're referring to is only one type of anthro, and my aim with the *Anthro-Alliance is not to so narrowly define the term. A lot of people have the idea that the term anthro and furry are the same, when in fact they are not.

Well I know Anthro and furries aren't the same. There's a wide difference with that one, but I still don't understand why there is Lion King fan art that bears no anthro resemblance, even to the definition, as well as Evana's last image with the father and son picture. Emotions are a part of animals too, so we can't say a picture with two lions loving each other is a human only emotion. Now, if they were hugging or otherwords, of course, but here?
lol while I'm not going to sit here all day and mince words (gotta head to work shortly), I'll point out one last thing that I would hope gives you insight as to why the dictionary definition of the word anthropomorphic can be assigned to the images.
While emotion can be observed in animals, drawing human expressions on animals, spark plugs, and candelabras is anthropomorphizing them. Typically a cartoonish style is employed to alter the physical characteristics of an animal so as to apply human expressions to them -- for instance Simba smiling, or Scar scowling. In Evana's last picture with the father and son, the cub's look of wonder at the butterfly on his nose is a human expression -- trust me, I have cats, and however fascinated they are at something I've yet to see them raise their eyebrows and gasp.
In regards to Lion King, to reference part of the definition again: "human motivation, characteristics, or behavior", I would hold that while as a lion Simba's motivation for killing Scar would be simply one of survival and the urge to control the pride for his own breeding purposes, Simba's motivation for killing his uncle in the story as an anthropomorphic character is one of revenge and about proving himself worthy to his father. It's the story of Hamlet, mixed in with a few other archetypes. While a male lion wouldn't hesitate to engage in battle to save his females from a rogue lion, I don't see many throwing the rogue lion off a cliff muttering something about how he killed his father.
