A visual artist and a writer will pair up to create one of the four choices below. (This is open to anybody, not just =
VisualLit members)
Choices:
1. Book
3. Comic
4. Screenplay
5. Animation
Illustrated Book:
You can write either a childrens book or a book of poems. The childrens book needs to be creative and try to stray away from "See Jane run" and such. Give us a fairy tale or a silly tale or a tale of adventure, use your imagination. Make this at least ten pages long (ten pages as it is done in a childrens book of course) with an illustration for at least every other page. The book of poetry needs to have at least six well written poems with an illustration on each.
Comic:
I want a plot line with complex characters and quality art work. It can be funny or dramatic but make it good. I'm not going to give you terribly strict guidelines but I would suggest trying to crank out a page at least every two weeks (one or two a week would be wonderful though.)
Screenplay:
Write us a one-act play (look it up if you don't know what that is). And have drawings of the characters, their costumes and the sets.
Animation:
An animation that is at least ten minutes long with a plot and characters. Not just a bunch of nonsense splooshed together. Make me laugh. Make me cry. Make me think. Do something.
Notes
Feel free to have fun with this. Just because I ask for an illustrated book doesn't mean that photographers can't have a hand in it. Feel free to add your own interpretation to the contest, that is why I didn't put too many restrictions on you. Now, while I won't give any more restrictions on these but it will be up to my descretion whether or not you actually put work into your project.
Submission
Since two artists will be involved you could open a new joint account to post your work on, but you don't have to. Also, for the book options you can either post a picture of the page with the illustration and words on it or post it as a piece of lit with the illustration as the preview picture. (Also, VisualLit always supports correct categorization.)
When you are finished send a note to =
VisualLit with
LINKS to the entry (with pages numbered.) Do NOT send thumbs.
Due Date:
