Weekly Help Desk Updates - August 1st,2007
Introduction
Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.
Hexe's Corner
Coming soon to a news article near you 'FAQ Misconceptions - Squash Time". Featuring misconceptions such as, common bugs being listed in FAQ entries and suggesting such be added as entries.
Also coming up again soon we will be holding another Help & FAQ ad contest!
In other news this week you may notice a small change in the title of our weekly article. This change has been made by popular request of our international readers.
Ewm's Corner
This week I would like to take the time to discuss multiple tickets. As of recent we have been experiencing numerous bugs that yes can be very irritating to not only you but for administrators as well. During these sorts of times, the help desk gets full to the brim in tickets and response times can take longer.
Besides reading the
Status Forum about these bugs, another major thing that can help speed up the desk is by not sending in multiple tickets. Most times this occurs out of a lack of patience, but other times multiple tickets can be caused by a bug itself, which we understand is not your fault. By keeping to one ticket per issue, this can help minimize slowness that can occur while answering everyone's tickets.
But wait! What if you left out extremely important information in your ticket shouldn't you give us this information right away? Actually, the best thing to do is wait for us to reply back to you so you can provide this information on the same ticket. If you do send in multiple tickets this can cause a lot of confusion since there are 3 of us on the
Help Desk working in shifts. One of us could get part of the information and another may get the additional information. In a situation like this neither one would have the full story. By waiting for us to reply in order to provide more information this will keep everything concerning your problem saved on one ticket instead of being spread out on several tickets.

I hate having to whine at you guys because you work damn hard, but really telling people to check the status forum only works so long as its up to date with the right information. :/

However threads are locked to begin with no matter what to prevent replies from being added to them which would only slow down the Help Desk if we have to answer hundreds of users asking the same question over and over of when something will be fixed, as that is not something we can answer since we do not fix the bugs ourselves.
