Welcome to the Artistic Urban Camp in Bucharest !

~bantumista:iconbantumista: reports, May 15
;Puzzle Project, with love” 2008 is the 3rd edition. Once again, the annual theme is generous for both artists and visitors. In line with the previous ones, it is about diversity, universality and knowledge-acquired tolerance.
The workshop, the public open events and the Puzzle Project team’s kind invitation are good reasons for you to visit the Motoare Terrace, on top of the National Theatre in Bucharest between 15 and 22 June 2008.

20 young artists will be invited. For a week, each of them will paint in front of your eyes on a 1.6 per 3 m area on the outer wall.

Objectives:

The project is a statement of experiments and artistic expression from different parts of the world. Each year’s theme determines the artists to create links between the imaginary and the real world while under a common source of inspiration.
Being a succesion of editions, the event provides for an annual happening where artists from different cultures meet and build together a puzzle whose mirror-image is given by the diversity of the visitors on the terrace. Artists’ presence add up to the already cosmopolitan atmosphere of the place.

Another aims are to bring together creativity from different areas, to prove during a week art’s power of making people cross boundaries and to show the world what globalization should be about.

Each of the people involved in the project will dedicate their work, their time during this special week, their exeperince to the visitors on the terrace “... with love”.

Romanian and foreign artists may apply for this year edition by accessing the above mentioned web page.

Announcing Code Is Art

~CodeIsArt:iconCodeIsArt: reports, August 3, 2007
Whilst DeviantART does contain many users who are programmers, there is no official code gallery. Submitting code as art has thus been stunted, and this group has been setup to encourage users to think more about code as art, to submit programming art pieces, and to help DeviantART officially recognise code as art.

~CodeIsArt recognises that code can be art, although doesn't have to be all the time, just as much as asking for a cup of sugar, isn't poetry.

This is a serious effort to help programmers share their knowledge that programming can be an art form, one that requires meticulous attention to detail and creative flair. There is a massive programmer community here, who keep a hidden talent locked away because deviantART does not provide an appropriate arena for them to air their art, and get suitable recognition & critique.

:bulletblue: What can you do?
  • Create art! If you're a programmer, and have never considered submitting any programming related art, this group is here to support recognition of the art form. Send us your works, or any recommendations to feature / favourite.

  • :+fav: Add any one of our stamps to your Journal (subscribers only), or to your Favourites / facebook / myspace &c.

  • :megaphone: Join the discussion! Here, or on the forum thread, or in any of the programming works of art :)

  • :w00t: Meet other programmers at the chatroom #CodeIsArt

Well, the point is not the age of something, digital art is even newer. But programming is programming, and art is art.

It would be very interesting to see some code recognised as art. It would be just as interesting to see some examples :D.
