Happy Anniversary!
On September 7, 2007,
*fotoFRIDAY will be celebrating its fifty-second week on dA! That will be one year's worth of photo prompts for your viewing and writing pleasure! As you can tell, we're a little excited. *
fotoFRIDAY is one of the longest-running photolit projects on this site, and in the past year we have grown from a small-time whim in @
youthculture's journal to a community staple. To honor this special occasion, we're holding a contest based around a single theme:
progress.
At first glance, progress has nothing but positive connotations: moving forward, new developments, advancing, achieving goalsbut, as with all things, progress can have a darker side as well. We invite all you writers and photographers out there to put on your thinking caps, tap into your creativity, and really explore what "progress" can mean.
Of course, there
are a few rules.
Photographers
We figured it was about time *
fotoFRIDAY started giving back to the photographers who'd given us so much. After all, we wouldn't have a fotoFRIDAY if it wasn't for our photos! With that in mind, we invite you to examine the different sides of "progress" in one of four unique ways:

Macro shots

Animals, Plants, and Nature shots

People & Portraits

Abstract, Surreal, and Conceptual shots
Participants may only enter once in a category, but two entries, total, are permitted. That means you can enter a macro shot and a portrait, but not two portraitsand you can't enter every category. Also keep in mind that one person cannot win in more than one category.
Poetry and Prose Writers
We wouldn't be *
fotoFRIDAY without a photo, now would we? Using one of the three photographs below for inspiration, explore the theme of "progress" (or whatever other ideas come to mind) in one of four different ways:

Participants may only enter once in a category, but two entries, total, are permitted. That means you can write a haiku and a drabble, but not two drabblesand you can't enter every category. Also keep in mind that one person cannot win in more than one category.

Devious Comments
I'll wrangle a monologue together in the next couple of days for this one. Already have some semblance of what I will write, and can only hope you like it as much as I do!
Congratulations again.

keep on keeping on

Everything in this room is eatable, even I'm eatable! But that is called "cannibalism," my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies. - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Question, can a person join both photography and literature, and if they can, are they still allowed only 2 submissions?

Do something wild today.
*fotoFRIDAY has been a great inspiration for me, and I'm glad to help out with this contest.

Critiquing someone's prose or poetry is an awesome thing to do.
