One World One Art Tour: Strokes for Hope

~ume-boshi:iconume-boshi: reports, December 18
This is an international exhibit that will tour several countries and by shown in multiple galleries over a two-year period. The title, Strokes for Hope, refers to painting with compassion and a forward vision. It suggests that works submitted will reflect, on some level, that the artist is thinking about issues such as world peace, hunger and poverty that require positive social change. It is hoped that works will create some viewer awareness or stimulate public thought/action about these types of issues. Work may be abstract or realistic. There is no restriction on style. Creative approaches are encouraged!

Eligibility
Open to all artists world-wide. Artists are invited to submit up to three pieces for consideration. Works selected by jurors from submitted entries will be chosen on the basis of creative excellence and quality of execution. All works must be original and completed within the last four years. Deadline for submissions is January 20, 2010.

Under18 Professionals - Series 3

~Under18:iconUnder18: reports, August 9, 2007
Under18 Professionals - SERIES 3

The monthly Under18 Professionals newsletter features artists who are professionally of age 18 or below. On every 1st day of each month an Under18 Officials, will post a thread naming "Under18 Professionals - Series X" in the thumbshare forum where X denotes the number of series Under18 has undergone.

Under18 Professionals has grown alot thanks to the support of you guys and now it has its own club. Visit ~Under18  We hope that your support would continue throughout all the series.

From the 1st series' collection, Under18 Professionals has received warming thumbs from many deviants all over the world. Photography, Manipulations, Traditionals, almost everything... but not Mature Contents and Nudes. Thanks for all the support and now is the featuring of deviations.

Starting from Series 3, we are going to experiment the Interview Section until further notice. It is also our first time featuring literature works.

Interview - our very first interview with an Under18, ~IceHuntress19
:iconicehuntress19:
My name is Mira, I'm 17 and I started manipulating photos only since this March. Ever since I submitted my first photomanipulation "Give In", which became a small hit, I've become very into what I do. I might even say--a little obsessed. Currently I'm more into what I call "vanity editing"--taking plain, boring, or flawed photos and turning them into exiting, eye-catching pieces that dont necessarily look edited.

- Q1: How frequent do you visit deviantART and submit a deviation?
Well I log on to DA almost everyday. There's always something new to see and I dont want to miss it. As for submitting, I usually sumbit something every 2 or 3 days, but if I'm on a roll with a series I might be submitting for several days in a row.

- Q2: Do you think that a subscription is required for you to be able to be exposed on deviantART?
No, I dont think a subscription is really necessary. I think all you need for exposure is to to sumbit your best and be a little involved in the community--visit the thumbshare forum, enter contests and such. I'm not subscribed and I do pretty well I think. In the last month I had a fair amount of attention, and its only grown since.

- Q3: As a photomanipulator, how and where to you get stocks? Is the life of photomanipulator easy?
I, personally try to use my own photos for stock but if Im having trouble finding what I need I just google it. I guess its hard photomanipulating sometimes for very extensive, surreal projects because you cant always find what you need and if you're a perfectionist like me it can be total hell. "Why doesnt anyone upload a LARGE photo of a DECENT snowflake falling from the sky at a 75 degree angle?", I hear myself say sometimes in frustration.

- Q4: Can you briefly describe your life as a photomanipulator?
My life as a photomanipulator is pretty exciting. There's really no limits to what can be created and theres always something new to be anticipated. The strangest accidents turns into the best pieces.

We'd like to thank Mira, ~IceHuntress19, for participating actively in our interview.
