Join The Revolution

~poeticrevolution:iconpoeticrevolution: reports, August 13, 2007
Welcome

If you are a poet I am sure you have faced the following scenario before. After putting your all into a piece of work, you post it on deviantART and receive comments that basically say “Nice Job” or “I like this” and nothing more. For a deviant who is concerned with pageviews this may be fine, but for a poet who wants to improve (which I think applies to all “real” poets) these comments are worthless other than to provide a bit of empty praise.

Poetry is no different than any other skill, it takes practise and the advice of peers to develop potential into prowess. There seems to be a real lack of commentary on deviantART, and that is definitely stunting the growth of many promising poets. As members of the poetic community it is imperative that we work to improve this, as our art form really is at stake.

I am asking you to join a revolution, a Poetic Revolution
<ahref=”[link] music) so that we may work together to rejuvenate the poetic community. The purpose of this group is not to hold contests or anything like that. It is simply a place for poets to improve; thats it. If that sounds like something you want to be a part of continue reading.

-~ghbatt (Founder)

What to expect?

As stated above, this group will not be focused on contests and the like, but instead will work on helping you improve your writing. This will be done by proving a list of deviants who share a passion for poetry that goes beyond simply writing it; to discussing and commenting on it. A listing of these poets will be provided, and that will allow you to make connections that will lead to mutual growth poetically.

Also, we would like to begin putting together articles to help improve your writing. Topics we would like to cover would be everything from basic rhyme scheme and voice development up to more complex topics such as determining proper meter and punctuation.

Thanks

Poetry is a wonderful thing. It can exist anywhere, physically or metaphysically, and can be both immortal or fleeting. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and we really hope to you decide to join the Poetic Revolution.

Our Aims are:
:bulletblue:To provide the DA writers community with Constructive Criticism.
:bulletblue:Push writers to their Artistic Boundaries.
:bulletblue:If we Fav a piece explain why we feel it deserve such praise.
:bulletblue:Report Violations lets work together to clean things up a bit.

I want to let you know of its existence because we need your support. If you feel you agree with the Aims of our club please visit us to learn more *poeticrevolution

We also encourage writers that would like opinions on their work to send a note to the club explaining thus with a link so one of our friendly members can get back to you.

I think this is an amazing idea. Anyone who is willing to read other people's work and give actual advice on improving is amazing. I think there should be more people on here like that.
