Printmaking Series Two - Intaglio Printing II

^stigmatattoo:iconstigmatattoo: reports, July 12
Printmaking produces images with visual qualities that are very different from those obtained through drawing or painting directly, and each technique adds its own peculiarities to the way each piece is conceived. However, with its odd and alchemical combinations of unusual materials, specific tools and enormous machines, Printmaking is often a strange and foreign territory even for artists accustomed to studio work on other disciplines.

Wonderful Watercolors

Watercolor art can be hard to find on DA, since the medium lacks its own designated section. Here’s a sampling of some of the best watercolors I’ve found on this site.

Nothing Like A Good Sketch

*kurishojo:iconkurishojo: reports, August 14, 2007
There's always lots of News Features about a variety of artists, genres and mediums designed to bring them to our attention. This one dives a little more specficically, down to the basics of pencil sketches.

Pencil sketches are often just as powerful as a full coloured picture and can hold a special life that just gets lost with cleaned up lineart (not to mention is probably the cheapest and most beneficial way to learn and practice). So often are pencil sketches hidden away in Scraps where few people venture so they aren't often out where we can see them. Here are some pencil sketches taken from my people I watch on DA, with few views, that I think are worth a second look.

Never forget, most of the beautiful pieces of art you see probably started out as little more than a pencil sketch.

I'll probably do another submission of this once I have more time to sift through the millions of wonderful pencil sketches DA artist's have to offer. Know of one that you really like? Think it's exceptional, beautiful, cool or just plain 'ol fun? Note me with the subject heading ' Pencil Suggestion '; and I'll add it to my list of possible future features :)

oh wow, i feel so flattered that you've featured one of mine among all these great works. :blush:

you're too sweet. :hug:

and it's true that pencil sketches are vastly underappreciated nowadays. there needs to be more sketch love. <3

It's 'cause everyone's all "OMG MAKE IT SHINY WITH COLOR PLZ".

Heck, I myself have started coloring my art o.o Partially because it's fun (at first), and partially to learn more about shading and stuff >>;; (I have a harder time with pencil 'cause it smudges...)

Those pencilworks are really good, though. It amazes me what people can do with a simple, good old pencil O:

Sketches are very powerful and I really do admire those that can indeed make lovely pieces with this method.

You're so awesome for making this, and aaaaah why did you include me I suck~ XD But man, thanks so much!!

...Heh, although, I guess I cheated, 'cause that drawing is actually ink *and* pencil. ^o^;;;;;
