"The HTML 5 will definitely contribute to a better Web. Despite its specification is still being drafted, several browsers like Firefox 3.5, Internet Explorer 8, Safari 4, Chrome 2 and Opera 10 already implement a significant part of the current HTML 5 specification."

DeviantArt "Members" Only Showcase!

~ladyalikolecir:iconladyalikolecir: reports, August 14, 2007
Greetings my fellow deviants!

**Originally I was going to hold off putting this up till I woke up in the morning... but I couldn't help it! **

Chances are, most of the deviants reading this don’t know who I am. However, with the noise I made in my last article, that number might just be a little smaller this time around. But the point of this article is not to cause a ruckus. No really, I mean it.

This article is for you! The average deviant! The true starving artist that can’t afford a subscription (like me), or even some not so starving artists that just don’t want a subscription, but that doesn’t make the art any less awesome!

For those who are reading this and did not see my first news article, I feel that non-subscribed deviants deserve their own little place to shine. Just because we can’t afford a prints account or a subscription doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to become extremely popular deviants as well. Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against subscribers, in fact I used to be one a number of years ago, but there should be a place for us to gather and see some amazing work that some may not know of otherwise.

So, in this article I plan to show off some deviants with some amazing talent. Maybe some of you know them, and maybe some of you will find new people to watch. Hopefully, this will be a community building experience, and bring deviantArt a new staple. Either way, it’s going to be fun!

Just one more thing before we get down to business: as of this moment, I’m just under 2 weeks from returning to college, and when that happens I don’t get to do much art or writing that doesn’t have to do with school. So, I’m planning on making this a monthly article. That way when I’m at school, I’ll have plenty of time to put things together in the small amount of free time I’m left with. And now, on to the show!

**********************************************************************

The first featured artist is one of my best dA buddies, and her artwork is some of the most amazing I’ve ever seen. Her style is somewhere between anime and realistic. Bold colors and lines pop out at you every time you view one of her works. She’s been a deviant since August 10th, 2005 (Woo hoo, her 2 year anniversary! ), and ever since she joined she’s been doing amazing things. Her tools of the trade? Her beloved Wacom tablet affectionately named “Waffles,” coupled with her computer software and a quite a bit of talent.

I first met ~SetoKakashiluver (or as I call her, SeKa-san) when I took over the Seto Club. That club has since died, due to lack of time on my part to keep it going, but I’m still buddies with many of its members, and SeKa-san is definitely an amazing artist. I’m glad to know her and to be one of her fans. Here is a little taste of her gallery. Check her out!

The next featured artist is actually someone I know in real life. She goes to college with me, and I was graced with being able to see some of her works in the flesh before discovering that we were both deviantArt members. Her style is rich in color and full of beautiful shading. Her tools of the trade are colored pencils and watercolors, which she uses in a unique way. I won’t go into detail; wouldn’t want to give away her secrets!

~rhase and I met in our 4th floor common room in our dorm. She was working on her art project that was due very soon, and we ended up showing off our artwork to each other. Soon one of us (don’t remember which) mentioned deviantArt, and we both realized we were members, and we quickly found each other online to watch and favorite. I look forward to going back to school and seeing more beautiful works by her. Here’s a sample of her works:

Our third feature this month is a deviant with a broad medium range. His works range from knitted dolls and objects, to pen-and ink drawings, and full-color beauty. His drawing style is sometimes reminiscent of Japanese watercolor paintings, especially his anime drawings. With so many different mediums at his fingertips, it’s no question that what comes from them will be beautiful.

I do believe ~brotherpanda and I met a while back when he commented on one of my pieces of artwork. I’ve admired his drawings and his pieces of knit work from afar, and when it was time to pick out artists I knew for this first feature, he was one I thought of right off the bat. Here are some of his creations:

Our final featured artist is a new buddy of mine. I was browsing through the pixel art gallery when I came across her work. Pixel art is something that I only got into in the last year and a half, and I’ve fallen in love with many a pixel art. Her exceptional skills are rivaled by few, and her wide variety of characters and outfit styles are sure to attract all kinds of connoisseurs.

~DeathButterfly’s artwork is colorful, and yet morbid, and each seems to tell its own story. Here is a sample of her work:

Well that’s it for this month’s article. I hope you found some new artwork to love! Now, this first article was comprised of people I know from my buddy list, but next month I’m hoping to feature some artists from all kinds of artistic galleries. If you, or someone you know, is a non-subscribed member with amazing quality artwork, please send me a note with links to images, names, and anything else you think I should see! I want to make this thing an amazing work, and I need the help of the community to do so!

Thanks, and keep creating beautiful works of art for the deviant art community!

~Setsuna, A.K.A Aliko Lecir

P.S. Special thanks to all who commented on my previous article, to all those who helped me create this article (especially the deviants featured here), and extra special thanks to ~Kuroneko-Hime for suggesting I start this feature!

Hey, this seems to be a brilliant effort from you. I hope similar activities keep being undertaken to bring the non-subscribing deviants together and to showcase their artwork.

Besides, I would also like to share one of my friend's profile. ~ti-fu-tu

I do not know who this person is, just randomly hoped on to his profile one day and began liking his work. So added him to my friends list :)
