Or perhaps NEITHER men NOR women. Are you a transexual, transgendered, bigendered, genderqueer or intersexed person? Or perhaps... Perhaps you're none of these. Maybe you're a straight ally, fighting for gay rights. Well, whatever you are... SHOUT IT OUT LOUD AND SHOW THAT YOU'RE PROUD!!!

World Mental Health Day - October 10th

~alcheme:iconalcheme: reports, 15h 27m ago
A friend of mine, *Flutterings came up with the idea to post a news story about mental illness in honor of the "World Mental Health Day", but with the day fast closing (at least in my time zone) and knowing she has a plethora of other things she is currently dealing with, I opted to post myself.

But my news article not withstanding, her original intent, and beautiful deviation commemorating the day and the essence should not be merely over looked, but seen and applauded ([link]).

Harassment and angry fans

~Myou-kun:iconMyou-kun: reports, August 16, 2007
When many join Deviantart it is for showing their art and maybe gain some fame. Also many are to lazy to create a own website or portfolio. In the end when it comes to Deviantart you are going to come across people which spend most of their time attacking peoples art.

When you see somebody attacking your friends artworks, famous or not famous artist you shall follow these simple rules:

5 ways to become a better fellow Devianiart

1) Never flame somebody when gained critic, try to ask why they dislike the artwork, even that you added "no critic" option. They might just want to say an opinion. Try to stop other people from flaming that person. Just out of kindness.

2) Never ever just add something as a favorite, try to leave a comment if you can. Just to show you like that artwork all the way.

3) It does not just excist one type of art style, it excist many out there and none of them is wrong. Anatomy does not always follow all types of art. But try to get a own style do not just ripp a style or copy.

4) Try to answer 30% of your comments, most become popular fast and rise fast. You will get flooded with comments and then try to take one afternoon and realy look on comments. Answer all that has a meaning.

5) Be kind , support somebody that has it hard to be shown on Devianiart. Give them the support they need.

STOP the harassment online.

Are you a fan and see somebody flamming one artwork. LEAVE it alone do not take the artists side and flame back. And never give immature critic such as :

You draw crap so shut up!"

Let´s try to make everybody feel welcome.

I disagree with the 3rd point to a certain extent. Assuming the person is drawing a representation of a human being or an animal for that matter, learning anatomy will help any artist regardless of style. If you can apply it to your style, you will have better control over your chosen style and give your subjects a more convincing prescense. Picasso had amazing studies in realism before he moved on to more spontaneous styles. Disney animators studied real animators during the production of Bambi before they adapted them into its animation style. Compare the realistic rendition of dinosaur by mangaka Masashi Tanaka [link] and its stylized counterpart [link] .

Other than that, I'm with you on this.

I have to kinda attack you here, Power puff girls is seen as art, and anatomy does not even excist in such images. Also in anime anatomy rules are very far away, longer legsm bigger heads and bigger eyes. It is seen as art also. So anatomy is bullshit made up by art-nazists

There is fine line between stylization and messed up anatomy. The artists I mentioned in my previous post had a foundation reality before bending it. The Pufferpuff Girls and anime, while stylized/simplified representations of human beings , but doesn't completely rule out reality. They still move and and make poses in a certain way that based on the rules of life albeit exaggerated. Not many realize that practicing realism will make their stylization stronger.
