I Don't Care About Your New Portfolios

=Commander-Luminaire:iconCommander-Luminaire: reports, July 1
So today I've been getting fullscreen advertisements for the new portfolio feature. I'm aware of it, thank you, and I don't care. Why does deviantART feel the need to advertise it like this to subscribers? I pay to not have any form of advertisement, including ones from deviantART. I know there is a feature that notifies everyone of new features in their message centre, so why is it that you guys feel that fullpage advertisements are the best way to let us know? That's just more irritating than anything :|

devi -antisemetic- Art part II

~jaakobou:iconjaakobou: reports, August 17, 2007

forget my older news question which was titled:

Is deviantArt turning into devi-antisemetic-Art???

forget about a head admin stating this:

and it's copy

is of equal value to a defamatory drawing on G.W. Bush :faint:

forget all about those and about FAQ #303: I'm offended by something I saw on the website!

here's the "real" story:

dA has been recently promoting a banner by a website dedicated to the defamation of the state of Israel.

the banner text states: "ISRAELI LIFE, ISRAELI LIE" (READ MORE)

off dA link to banner: [link]

off dA link to screen cap: [link]

off da link to phone cam capture: [link]

Google removed that website from the AdSense advertising program for “unacceptable content,” “advocating against a group,” and “sensitive content.” Yahoo/Overture restricted the ads to a few odd keywords. Adbrite closed their account. Amazon deleted all reviews to stop the discussion. Russian ad provider Begun rejected the ads as “extremist.” Many other sites and conventional media outlets refused the ads and China blocked the site.

But dev-antisemetic-Art accepts
But dev-antisemetic-Art accepts
But dev-antisemetic-Art accepts

regardless of what you think you know about the Israeli-Arab conflict, i doubt you would support countries being targeted for attack by commercials on your art website.

p.s. if you care about dA not going in this direction, please consider clicking on the +fav button for both this news piece and also for the previous one.

proper disclosure: i've been previously active in anti-defamation activity and some of my submissions have been regarded as offensive to the very people who usually post anti-zionist/anti-israel hate art.

I've never seen any of those... How long have those banners been around the site?

It's religions. They tell good people to do bad things to other people who don't think the same and don't believe the same god.

I read this after your note but I am more doubtful then I was before., yes this is uncalled for, yes it is inappropriate and should be removed... but so should many other anti-Palestinean pieces.

And on a less serious note, China is hardly a haven for poitical freedom of speech or an unbised view towards global politics.

I am shocked and disgusted about this. I know deviantArt needs money and ad-sense is one way to get it but WHERE THE HELL DID THEIR MORALS GO!? I know it's totally trendy to be anti-Israel at the moment and art is oh-so-free, but there are limits. As an Israel-born, I'm considering to not renew my subscription. After all, they get enough money from hate-art, right?

@Edme
It's not religious anymore, religion is just a nice excuse because the word of God, Allah or whoever is "absolute". It's about "chick-a-boom", I've been there and tasted the mentality of Israel's enemies. When they can't bomb Israel, they shoot each-other, that's all there is to it nowadays

well, I dont think religion is a shame.
it gives hope to many people each day who just wanna live their lives an do it peacefully.
and I think thats a great thing.
the only disturbing thing is that the church ( or however its called in other religions)
abuses the message of the bible (or however...) for their own greedy, egoistic and cruel intentions.
thats actually the only shame about it. you can say what you want but all these problems come sooner or later because of money.
