I would suggest you read the following before proceeding any further, thank you very much.
Alright, it is indeed time for an important, earth-shattering announcement here...
I'm going on vacation this weekend!!! To Seattle for the
Penny Arcade Expo (PAX)!! Ahh, three days of gaming with a little sightseeing sprinkled in, an entire coast
& country away from my crappy part-time job...
Oh yeah, I should probably explain how this ties in with the Mini-DDs. Well, I want to try & cram in as much as possible, & it can take at least a couple of hours to prepare all of these features. And I don't want to spend my last few hours at my first-ever gaming convention/West Coast trip on a laptop doing what I do every other week of the year.
Now, a logical solution would be to write next week's Mini-DDs in advance, therefore fully preparing myself & making sure all I have to do is just post the new article.
...But that would be the
boring solution now, wouldn't it?
So instead, I'm going to leave next week's Mini-DDs up to
you. I've been thinking that it'd be interesting to see how any Mini-DD fans would tackle their own little features...So if you can,
pick some art you think is DD-worthy, write a few sentences as to why you think it's great, & send your little feature to me in a note.
Send as many features to me as you want, & feel free to make up your own guidelines. The only rules/guidelines that really apply here are that
A. You can't give me anything that already has a DD,
B. It preferably isn't by someone I've recently featured, &
C. You preferably suggest it to me before Thursday, when I leave for Seattle. Oh, &
D. Have fun, but that's pretty much a given.
I'll pick the nine best features & showcase them here in next week's Mini-DDs as usual. And here's an extra incentive as well:
Those who get featured will receive a couple of little prizes from me. Note the plural this time around, so it's not just the usual...
Anyhow, I really look forward to seeing any features that you may be able to suggest to me. After all, now next week's Mini-DDs depend on all of you...So I hope this is a bit of a success, good luck to all, have fun, & I'll make sure to take plenty of pictures! ^_^
Alright, so with the big deal out of the way for now, what say we move on to the main event already?
Okay, so if you don't know by now, the featured artists here each receive the Golden Fefcaine Award:
...My little prestigious token of appreciation for anyone who created some amazing, DD-worthy artwork. Plus it has a delicious milk chocolate center! And when you melt the chocolate center down, it fizzes & tastes like fried chicken (for reasons I still don't understand)!
Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...

Ah, how I do love a great Threadless t-shirt design (or any great design, for that matter)...&
monster gun by ~
loveshugah easily satisfies my cravings in that area! Creative, trippy, funky, vividly colored, energetic, full of nice little details (gotta love the little monsters, naturally), a little cute, & just plain damn fun, this is one t-shirt that I'd certainly like to make a part of my wardrobe.

=
SulphurSpoon's creations never fail to amaze me in one way or another, &
Lumm Illustration digital is no exception. With a strange yet creative & cool character design, a relaxed feeling to it all, some great colors & details, & a wicked style straight out of Japanese mythology, you would have to be foolish to not add a beauty like this to your Favourites gallery.

It's always nice to see some fresh talent here at DA, & while ~
nielq may be a bit new here, he already knocked my socks off with
Say So. Nicely wild? Gloriously trippy? Innovative & executed well? Fun & colorful? Chock full of detail? Cute & funny? Alright, enough with the questions. It's all of the above & quite possibly then some, & for that it deserves all the praise it can get. Bravo!

It's lovely little pieces like
Just Jellin' that make *
AndrewDickman one of this site's best cartoonists, & it's not hard to see why. With just one random thought, he created a fun, cool, & innovative character (Who else would have thought of a jelly fish anthro?) & drawn an amazing picture of her that's simple, cute, colorful & fun. Come on now, look at that face & tell me you can't resist this.

madcat7777777. Well, I do believe Huey Lewis & the News said it best...Okay, lame joke, but this pic is nothing but awesome. Oozing innovation all over, this is one nice & eye-catching cartoon executed perfectly from the concept to the colors to all the little details, right down to the bananas. Frankly, if you aren't impressed by this, then it's a good bet that you have no soul.

Ah, if only vanity was the Anthro gallery's sin for DA's "7 Deadly Sins" contest...If that were the case,
I feel pretty. by ~
doomdawg would definitely take home first place. Colorful, stylish, cute (even a little majestic), sleek, fun, creative...Just plain amazing overall. If this guy's in a beautiful Deviation like this, then he certainly deserves to be adored, dammit!

How who doesn't love a nice shot of cyberpunk now & then?
Cyber SHop by ~
SC4V3NG3R is a dazzling scene straight out of a sci-fi comic book that's amazingly colored, rich in detail, full of life, & just plain stunning. With a picture that perfectly captures the essence of a busy
Blade Runner-esque city in such a cool way, how can you not resist this baby?

Well, in case you haven't had your fill of creative & fun character designs, here's
Moscow Martian by *
zizzy to satisfy your hunger a little more. A fun little cartoon that's well-designed, nicely styled, perfectly colored (love how it seems a little dark), crammed full of several nice little details right down to the crumbs on the table, this is one sweet Deviation that definitely deserves at least a look.

ocean-raven has a gallery that's definitely full of potential, with
+...Stare at YOU...+ being a nice little piece of work. But think Mad-Cheshire, who suggested this to me, put it best: "Well really, it speaks for itself. Brilliant characters, awesome colors that jump out at you, & i can just feel them staring into my mind...XD" Yeah, I don't think I could've put it any better myself...
...& that's all for this week! If you have any comments, suggestions, etc., they'd be greatly appreciated! I hope you've all liked what I've featured this week, & I'll be back next week with nine more DD-worthy works of art! Sayanora until then! ^_^
