FAREWELL TO A FRIEND:
Some of you may not have heard yet, so I'm going to let you in on a sad piece of news.
My dear friend, massive supporter and former GD of the Stock Gallery,

has stepped down from her role as one of three stock gallery directors. It has come as a huge shock and disappointment to many in our gallery but we in stock all wish her well and send our love to her.
We'll miss her little ^, her amazing Daily Deviation choices, her second-to-none promotion of Stock and the respect stockers deserve... but most of all we'll miss her being our GD

We are assured its 'Bye for now' and not forever. So we hope to see our favourite lady back soon.
FEATURES AND TIPS:
Ah technology. Where would we be without it? In caves? Hey, we've already done primal stock

So why not try the other end of the scale?
Cyborgs, weird robot type things, computers, you name it. Techy stock is in high demand so here's a little feature I just KNOW you'll love if you're into sci-fi art!
TIPS FOR MAKING READY-TO-USE BACKGROUNDS:

I'm not going to promote ripping apart your computer to get to the nitty-gritty of it just to take photos. BUT if you have old VCRs, wiring and cables, dead motherboards etc... that you don't need to hack apart for stock - then take photos of them! Just like household items, they're easily accessible and great to use!

Lava lamps, static orb lamps, cool lighting effects - they're photographable too! And they're still reasonably techy and can even be switched around with fantasy!

Technology doesn't just have to be the innards of a computer. If it runs on electricity (sometimes even batteries) chances are it can be photographed. Microphones, playstations, whole computers... don't let your imagination stop at what's underneath. Even the outsides can be used!

Science Fairs/Expos. They are golden. You'd be amazed by the ingenuity some people have to make things work on a couple of toothpicks, a rubber band, a few paperclips and a battery. And while you're there - if you run into MacGuyver, tell him Demonic says 'Hi'

Patch things together. You don't have to win the Science Fair Major Prize and you don't need to be my buddy MacGuyver... but you can make some pretty interesting stock but putting computer cables where they don't belong

Just don't futz up your working electronics doing so and keep all electronics OFF when you do it. Or you'll be doing Einstein model stock in no time

Why stop at tecnhological items? Signs warning of electrical hazards or misuse of technology still count!
STOCK TUTORIAL OF THE WEEK:
Seeing as how I have a lot of stockers on my list that are constantly asking for constructive critique and help with how they do their stock, I want to draw some more attention to the bundle of Stock related Tutorials that have been submitted to deviantart - most of them are by long time stockers that have found a few simple ways to make their stock just a little bit nicer and more useable for artists. Some are even for
artists who use stock! So check out the tutorials I feature and make your stocky-adventures that little bit better

If you want to see the tutorials I've collected check out the journal here:

THIS WEEK:
How To Request Stock Tutorial by =
demonicintuition
We have a lot of people dropping by the forums giving very vague requests for stock. 99% of the time we either direct people to the main search (very simply to use, I might add) or ask questions to get more detail that would've been better being given in the first place.
If you plan on requesting stock - have a quick flick through the tutorial above. It will save you a lot of time and will give you a lot more responses with what you're looking for - rather than having to reply to people saying 'Not quite what I'm looking for' or 'More like this [link]'.
STOCKER CONTESTS:
Its not just about the prizes! Stockers get to see all the lovely artwork made with their stock and a set theme in mind. If you have a stock contest you want promoted,
drop me a note with the details

STOCK CLUBS:
We love them to bits - so we make MORE of them!

Each are specialising in one thing or another and THIS WEEK we have two brilliant

clubs to promote to the masses.

is for the stockers here on dA that want to get more variety in their costumes by borrowing those of other stockers.
You can even list your own costumes for swap or sale! A brilliant idea and ready for some uber-activity!

is another NEW club that has opened up for stockers to submit their works to. All credit and kudos go back to the original stock artist - this club is around to
promote unrestricted stock. The stock here can be used on websites, in publishing, dA and offsite prints and MORE. So if you're not the kind that LOOKS for the '

rints Permission' on stock pages - best check these guys out. They do all the hard work for you!
FOCUS ON THE FORUMS!:
The StockArt forums are located here: [link]
A place for stockers to promote their contests, artists to request specific stock, ask for help finding stock, discuss stockart in general and much more! We go a little silly sometimes but don't let that scare you off! Just remember what we're about - STOCK!!
Nature vs Places: by ^
LawrenceDeDark Are you a little confused on what goes where? Beaches? Forests? Or something else? Here's a little guideline for you on where you should put these kinds of stocks.
Children in your Stock: by ~
TrollKidsStock What do you do if you're shooting stock with other people's children? Are their parents involved? Do you still submit model release forms? What IS the deal with shooting for the little adventurers we take so much for granted? Discuss it all in this thread.
