The plane was on a trip from Taiwan to Japan when a passenger noticed smoke coming from the engine. the passenger alerted the stewardess who alerted the pilot who landed the plane in Okinawa and evacuated everyone. two minutes later, the plane exploded.
All 157 passengers were safe.
China Airlines is run by the Taiwan Government and has the worst airline safety track record to date, ranked 87/87 in terms of safety.
