Hi Deviantart Community,
that's my first news that I submit on Deviantart. Therefore it is a little premiere for me this time!
Meantime, I observed the DA news for a long time but in my opinion there was all the time a topic that missed.
It's the HDR-Photography.
For many of you this sort of photography is nothing since there are a lot of people who think that it would'n be so difficult to shot any good-looking photos. For the rest, including me

, HDR-Photography is one of the greatest inventions since there are photo cameras
By the way, if you are an HDR-Photographer and you are not in a club, here is mine.
And for those of you who don't know what HDR is, here is a little explanation from WIKI
[link]
Furthermore I would like to appreciate all these HDR-Photographers on the list below, that shot many stunning HDR-Photos. If you are not on this list and you would like to show your HDR-Photo here, please send me a note with the subject "HDR-News", thanks
Best Regards
McMichi

Of course your think "HDR" is the greatest invention in photography. It means you don't have to think about exposure. You just pull out your DSLR (that mommy probably paid for), take a handful of bracketed shots, and then murder the image in software. You use techniques originating with Paul Debevec to merge multiple exposures but most of you probably don't know who he is. Debevec's intent was to capture a "light probe" and use it for rendering synthetic scenes to produce more realistic lighting. Go look in some of the 3D rendering categories, many people are still using his light probes (I have too). But that's not what you guys do. No, you tone-map the HDR image into an LDR image, squashing all of the contrast out of the scene. In extreme cases (too much local contrast, too little global contrast), the result is garish and cartoonish.

Ahem...
That being said, these are some of the better "HDR" photos I've seen. One is even in my favourites - I didn't realise it was "HDR" until later.
Contrast and darkness should not be feared.
I understand what you are saying and I also agree with some things, but you forgot an essential element: the fun of making the HDR photo's. Because HDR is very interesting because you can make very normal objects stand out in ways that you've never seen before. For instance the brick (the third photo). The brick was very boring when I saw it... But after I made a HDR photo of it, all the cool effects appeared. So that's the other side of HDR, you never know what will come out.
Greetings, Martyn.
everyone shruggs and gives a lost look when HDR is mentioned.
thanks for posting this news to let others have more exposure to HDR.
