Have you ever fall in love with a character -though imaginary- from comics, manga, cartoons or anime? 2- What character from comics, manga, cartoons or anime would you like to be? Draw or paint them to win!
There are TONS of dA artist on here as well all know, as well as ones that are magificent when it comes to deviantions, but they just aren't noticed. Take for example, sugerT. She's wonderful when it comes to icons, drawings and tutorials, but she isn't as famous as ie: JohnSu. And why is that?
Because people are taking their time to look for only certain people and things. Sure we all do it, but for once, comment on someones' art that dosen't have to do with Sasuke Uchiha or yaoi couples. People work hard on their deviations and it just dosen't feel right to be put down for what they draw or they don't get any comments or favorites on something that is actually the best things that some people have ever seen. It's not because they're lazy, it's because they don't care. To them, they probably think that they stole that pic when THEY are the ones who drew it. I mean, come on!
Sure, I'm not the best artist that you'll see everyday, but there are others. Others out there that want to be seen. To be heard. To be noticed. For some people, art is all that they have in life. That could be the only reason why they exist today, but they could be gone in a flash. Why? Because they don't feel good enough to draw since no one bothers to commment on their work. Cut them some slack at least! There are many people from the famous TheOtaku.com and are the most popular aritsts on that site, but they don't even get reconized here.
And even people leave that place for here. deviantART. They think they're gonna get noticed, but their not. Because people don't care about them. All they care about is themselves. I wish people could open up and realize that. Now, I know that I'm going to be hated by some people for this article, but go ahead and hate me. It's my opinion and what I think of some people. I'm not saying anyone is a bad artist. I'm just saying that they need to be praised more for how hard they work for it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a blessed day.
This is really what people should do, but no one does. It's just a fact of dA and life. If you want to get noticed you have to create something that the public will enjoy.

Youth and skill will always be overcome by age and treachery.
I think we all have different tastes in art, and we're only interested in the styles that appeal to us most. But I agree with you that people should be more open-minded.
You can't judge the book by its cover, same here, we have different styles, but it isn't that one is bad because you don't like one's style. It would be nice if people pay attention to other's thought and opinion and don't generalize them by their styles.
Mate, you're getting it all skewed. I appreciate your cause, but I don't think you've been here for long enough to understand the dynamics of DA.
Sure, I've seen plenty of highly talented artists with impressive portfolios who get a great deal less attention/comments/faves than, say, fan artists, and I too think it's a pity that these people don't get more exposure and appreciation. But the truth of the matter is, no matter how good you are, your success or popularity depends in part on your getting noticed here (as in real life).
It sounds cruel, but think of it this way: there are over 41 million deviations here at DA, and the number of members must number in the millions as well. What do you think are their chances of getting seen? If you keep to yourself and don't venture out to talk to anyone else first, who's going to notice you? maybe one or two people who catch your artwork in Latest Deviations when you put it up, maybe a couple more when they click on Random Deviation/Deviant. If you're really good *and* lucky, someone will like your art enough to recommend it for a Daily Deviation, and it'll get picked... but it doesn't always happen. An artist's best chance at exposure comes from getting connected with other people, participating in conversations... because DA isn't just an art gallery, is it? it's a community. You get back what you give.
As for comments and faves... I personally don't like to fave and run. If I see something I like, I'll usually try to say more than just, "Wow, gr8 work!", because obviously that wouldn't be doing the picture justice. But there are people who don't reply to comments, however long and well-written, so if you come across a piece of art with a whole list of unanswered comments... most of the time you just don't *bother* writing.
And you know, whatever you may say about people only taking the time to look for certain things... that's the truth of the matter. People will always be more attentive to things they're more interested in. And there will always be certain subjects that people will be more interested in than others. Like... kittens. Or other cute baby animals. Out of a thousand people, how many will like pictures of them? and how many of these people will like... portraits of John Kerry, unless it's amazingly drawn? I agree with FF-Boy that people should be more open-minded when viewing art and that they shouldn't condemn genres like comics and fan art as 'not being art!' but, really, there's only so much you can do about people's personal preferences.
At the end of the day, people can only do so much to help an artist get noticed. They also have to help themselves.

Yes and no sort of thing, you have to work much harder now to get less views then a year ago before the massive boom. Talk to be talked to view to be viewed. If you're drawing for views then it won't last.
As for "famous" people on "theotaku.com" being barely noticed here is more likly to do with time and effort spent on their account and devotion to it.

Work hard on your art then get out there and be noticed....
I don't think I've heard better advice anywhere.
Sure its good to like the amazing pictures but you always know they're going to be good when the next one comes out the following day and you aren't disappointed and I like that.
But...
I like looking at the other end of the scale at these people's work who try their hardest and take their time to get things perfect. Now you know that person can only get better and it's amazing watching how talent can grow like that.
That's another benificial part of DA, you all learn from eachother. The only way to do that is speak up and shout at them to look at you for once.
aww~ thank you so much for mentioning me! =w= The one's who comment on this with a sour note are probably the ones who have 50,000page views and billions of watchers. XD but =DarthFar is right, there are a hell'of a lot of people on DA, and its hard to get noticed. But, i dont like how the same artists get their art on the front page every day. But that's mainly to do with pageviews and whatnot. Theotaku is the same way, but alot smaller. I used to be, what you would call, 'famous' on there, when InuYasha was the shizat. Now that Naruto has taken over the fandom, my art doesn't get viewed/commented on as much. Its really hard to get people to comment on Isabella art, since she is an OC and not well-known..I'm working on that, though XD
You really just need to get in with the 'famous' people of DA. Comment on their shit, on their page. But~ good luck getting them to notice you when you're squished in with thousands of other people trying to do the same thing. It is sad, though, that the most commented picture in my gallery is a Sasuke picture. But like other's have said, its all about preference. A LOT of people have a hard-on for Naruto. So, of course, they look at Naruto pictures. Some people, god forbid, hate anime, therefore they wont--unless they're a total asshole--wont comment on the picture. The best way to get noticed..would be if someone had you referred for a DD. And you actually got a DD. Other then that, if someone is really hurting for pageviews, comments and whatnot, draw Naruto. XDI would never draw something just to get noticed, that doesn't float my boat, but for some people, that's all they care about. But I'm not going to sit here and say i DONT care about that stuff, i do, i fucking CRAVE comments. Its like crack to me. 8D
I do hate..however, how on the otaku the crappiest pictures get on the front page. Very rarely do i ever see something i actually like. They should have..artist of the week, on there, that would get some undiscovered people their 15 mins of fame. c:
