As any photographer will know, it is the light that makes a photograph a photograph and having good light makes a good photograph.

Whether it is a dark and moody sky imposing over a raging sea or a white waterfall gliding down a black rock face, the quality of light makes an image stand out from the plain. It can sometimes take a lot of time to wait for the right light and sometimes the best times can happen when you’re not expecting it.

I want to give a few examples of some images that use light in the best ways I can find.
