The term collage derives from the French "coller"
meaning "glue" or "to stick."

Ever since I learned about paper mache and collage making in school
i've been fascinated with the wonderful world of collage art.
Many a newspaper, catalogue and magazine as been cut up
in my household to the horror of my parents.
I'm generally a poet but I get a lot of satisfaction
from making collages and I appreaciate collage art a lot.
The art of collage making goes back as far as the time
of the invention of paper in China around 200 BC.
There are many techniques and materials that can
be used and interpreted whichever way you want.
Collage artwork can include a wide range of materials
such as newspaper clippings, ribbons, sweet wrappers,
food packaging, portions of other artwork, photographs,
and many more materials glued or mixed into a piece of paper or canvas.
In a sense collage is as good a celebration and interpretation
of the freeedom of exspression in art that there is possible.
Collage exspresses a level of insight into one's personality
that you'd struggle to find reflected so richly in most other
art forms, collage art can incorporate many art forms
into its appearance.
