This new article is dedicated to you, people from USA, Great Britain, Australia, Germany... for all of you, who live in democratic countries. It is a story about my home-country, the Czech republic and its fight for freedom and democracy. And I think it can help you to gain some very important and interesting information!
Exactly twenty years ago, the famous Velvet revolution started in the Czech republic and it finally brought freedom and democracy to the country. During the communist rule, there were political murders, violence and other terrible crimes against the humanity. Read the story about 40 years of totalitarian regime and the final fight for freedom!
As of October 28th, the GLBT community of the United States of America is now protected under the hate crimes laws. It took them almost 6 years after Canada got their laws changed, but they finally did!
It's that time of year when deviants carve pumpkins, watch horror flicks, and break out their spookiest costumes for themselves, their OCs, and their favorite fictional characters. Enjoy some of dA's more underappreciated Halloween art!
Weve all heard about it by now; the H1N1 virus, or originally called Swine Flu and though there are plenty of theories where it came from or how much of a problem it may be, I have done a bit of research over the last few months and have come up with a small bite of information that people can read should they become concerned, or just want to know a bit more before they accuse someone of having the virus, or if you yourself think you may
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is offering the public a chance to make Olympic history by designing an Olympic medal for the Youth Olympic Games.
People around the world are being invited to submit their designs for the medals to be awarded at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) which will be held in Singapore next year, from 14 to 26 August 2010.
Today we commemorate the first anniversary of one of the most horrific Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people and against humanity in general. On this day last year, the Zionist entity with all its advanced and sophisticated weapons, paid for by the US and the EU, launched a 23-day war on the unarmed and besieged civilian population of the Gaza Strip.
The holidays and new year are here/coming up, and you know not everyone here has money to spend on others, or enough time to draw something even if they really want to... but everybody could give the gift of kindness and appreciation! Even people without money or time can give a gift of happiness~ Sometimes even one small act of kindness can change someone's reaaallly bad day to a rrreeeeeaaaalllly good day! <3
I'm glad that people are taking a stand against it. People shouldn't be persecuted for any beliefs. Uganda's gay death penalty legislation is unjust. Hitler was wrong to put homosexuals in concentration camps during the Holocaust, and Uganda is wrong to give people the death penalty just for having a different sexual orientation.
Rhys sat thoughtfully chewing on his sandwich. "I don't see him a lot." He started. "We have a pretty good relationship, but he's rarely there when I need him. Work keeps him really busy. He's a very moody sort of guy."
"Mum and him are still married, which in some ways, I'm thankful for. But I don't ever think he was cut out for family. I mean we all have our flaws right?
Tell me about Your Father
"Dad?" Emily's eyes instantly lit up. "Dad is the best man to ever walk this planet! Dad and I are always up to something crazy. And he gets me laughing really quickly. He's a bit of a goose - and sometimes he drives me insane. But I love him."
Tell me about your Father
I knew I had hit hard with this question to Sophie. She stared at her shoes.
"That's someone I haven't spoke of in a while..." Sophie's eyes filled with tears as she spoke. "Dad passed away when I was eight. I wish I could scrounge out some really good memories with him, but I was so young..." She chewed her lip. Suddenly, her eyes flashed with anger and sorrow.
"Why'd he have to leave this Earth? I'll never forgive him for leaving his eight year old daughter and his fourteen year old son. Never. I was too Young."
Tell me about your Father
"My Parents are divorced. I see my Dad for two weeks, every break*." Becky said simply as she toyed with her brown hair. "We have a really close relationship - and I get on well with him. In fact, better than Mum. But... I don't see him enough. And.." She hesitated "It's almost like he moved on. He remarried and started a family of his own."
Tell me about your Father
Victoria kicked a pebble with her shoe as we walked near the lake.
"My Dad. No. Wait. I won't call him that." She spat venomously "He's a b*****d. I hate him."
"He's never there for me. He never calls. The divorce papers are being signed right now. And I'm glad! I can't wait to change my last name to my Mother's maiden name!"

It's Father's Day here in Australia. The one day of the year the nation stops to appreciate the Men that raised Us. Our Dads. Biologically, or Adopted.
We all have different views on Fathers. Some Dad's were never there when we needed them. Some Dad's never showed up in our lives. And others should win "Dad of the Year".
My Dad was personally one who loved his work. Our family was run like a business. Do Good, get rewarded with money and carnal gifts. Do Bad - and you got something taken away. We feared him. But he always managed to have our deepest respect.
I can openly admit that he is not the World's best Dad. But he told me this year, all he wanted to be is our Hero. To be someone we admire. And for me, he is. He's taught me to never give up. Never. He's also taught me to stay true to my word - even if it seems impossible to do so.
He's also taught me few of life's little quirks. Like, Humans have a will to survive.
This year has to be the most profound year of my relationship with my Father. He told me one night, when me and him were alone "You're now coming to the age where you'll find out that, like many Heroes. I have flaws. I am not perfect."
We all know a Fatherly figure is pretty important in the lives of Children, especially Males. Scientific reports and tests on this have shown evidence. But do we actually appreciate them as much as We should?
This is the One Day of the Year We really can appreciate our Dads. If We are not Blessed to have Our Fathers, whether he passed on, moved on or We never knew him... Father's Day is the broad word in my dictionary to appreciate an Older Male who has inspired Us, Taught Us things or just been there for Us when We needed someone the most. It doesn't have to be Our biological Father.
This is, His Day
A big thank you to `anjules for helping me find a deviation I stumbled across yesterday that would've made the feature...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
