Some new symbols...

Earlier this month, $chix0r asked deviants to volunteer to be a part of the MN@ - the modding team for the forums and chats.

Three forum regulars, @sine-out, @Stykera and @VernonX9000 got the gig, meaning now Vernon can lock his drunken threads, a great improvement for all.

Also several forum regulars got made seniors! I know I'll miss out someone important if I list them here, but it's probably too late to thank them anyway

dA's 7th birthday!

Now, your faithful forum newshound was away for this, so basically if anything happened I missed it.

However, what I know did happen was flaming, so not unlike my own birthday.

We did find out that $lolly actually does have a proper job - no doubt a huge shock to the rest of the dA team

Memes!

Memes are essential if you want to be the 'cool' kid on the forums. Mindlessly repeating tired jokes that only other internet nerds will get immediately sets you aside as an intelligent being.

Here I'll share information about the top memes so you too can be as cool as a duck in a tumble-dryer.

Pedo bear

In Japan, pedo simply means 'cute'! This little fellow is the national mascot of Japan and is featured prominently on many billboards and the walls of lots of shops in the commercial section of Tokyo. Pedo is the way of life in Japan and the Emperor himself is a massive follower.

and the other accounts based on the pedo theme (, , ) are commonly used after the mention of something childish and cute.

The origins of this are steeped deep in mystery, although recently young Jeffy Green managed to point out the spot where it started on a doll.


lolcats

The height of internet humour is adding a caption to a picture of a cat looking funny. Ironically, this form of humour has been around since the middle ages making it one of the oldest forms around.

SPARTA

Used in reference to the film Spartacus this is used when a group of forumers all take the blame for another.

Originality: D. Snapesnogger is overdone, it'd be funnier if this was during a time of drama with her:
Execution: D. The bad typing cliché is just annoying. It's much more entertaining when you have someone that's fanatical AND at least moderately intelligent.
Discretion: F. Obvious troll, no subtlety, which makes it funnier for those who actually do figure it out, and get to watch everyone else take it seriously.
Account: F. Well, it's empty. No fake art, name and profile makes the person seem too devoted to snapesnogger to be believable.
Follow Up: F. Why aren't you replying to comments? Convincing trolls don't make topics and abandon ship.

Okay, so why was this newsletter so late? Well, aside from the fact I've been a bit overworked recently, there was this poll: [link]

Excluding the demand for =FemaleWarrior's boobs, people want MOAR of this newsletter

I however, am a tad unconvinced we can get the news for it! But I've moved the newsletter to the end of the month now. Aside from making it easier for you to find out when it's released, if I decide there can be a second newsletter edition in a month, it'll be easier to fit into a schedule.

Also it's a day late because I was tired.
