Bob Ross Tribute Contest

You may, or may not remember the late, great Bob Ross. He entertained us for years on public television in the US and other countries with his show The Joy of Painting.

In a half hour he would construct a landscape complete with trees, bushes, mountains, streams, and sometimes a random cabin for "Peapod the pocket Squirrel", one of Bob's little critters.

"He was known in particular for...frequently anthropomorphizing the inanimate subjects of his paintings and describing them in such terms as 'happy little trees' and ' pretty little mountains'." He truly made oil painting seem so easy and showed the viewers his techniques for creating a composition with a fast and effective method.

More from Wikipedia: "Ross utilized the wet-on-wet...painting technique, in which paint is applied on top of still-wet paint (as opposed to the more classical method of waiting for each paint layer to dry before applying more paint). Combining this method with the use of large painting knives and fan brushes allowed Ross to paint trees, water, clouds and mountains in a matter of seconds."

I am sure he inspired the artist in many of us!

*** The Rules ***

1. The work must be a landscape, or related to nature or Bob Ross, and must resemble the techniques that Ross used in his paintings. Preferably it should have happy little bushes, trees, flowing streams, and/or mountains...and perhaps a cabin for "Peapod the pocket Squirrel".
2. Only works created after January 2007 will be accepted.
3. Most Mediums Accepted: Traditional and digital. Photography will only be accepted if it is a photomanipulation. Try to have the qualities of a Bob Ross painting.
4. To submit an entry, send me a Note with the subject "Bob Ross Tribute Entry", along with the link to the entry, and the thumbnail.

Be creative with your happy little bushes and pretty little mountains, and take advantage of all the happy little accidents along the way.
