Project Comment: 0-5 Comments // Issue 40

*ProjectComment:iconProjectComment: reports, 1d 10h ago
Project Comment is a project that features the generally obscured and underappreciated artists and their art in regular news articles. Our objective is to recognise deviants who deserve more recognition and to feature deviations with less than 10 original comments.

The 0-5 Comments Issues feature a deviant as well as 3 deviations with less than 5 original comments from a wide selection of art. Please give your time to :+favlove: this article and to write constructive comments so that you make a true difference to the artists featured here.

Holiday Wish List Project of 2009

=nayruasukei:iconnayruasukei: reports, November 15
On deviantART for the past 3 years (if not longer), the Holiday Wish List Project has shown deviants that we are a family, and even without directly knowing one another we can share happiness. Without spending a penny, you can make someone's holiday who may not have one otherwise.

WHALING IN NORWAY

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?

Despite the 1986 global ban on commercial whaling, Norway has killed over 8,000 minke whales in the last 21 years. This year, Norway has killed 592 whales, that’s 1 whale every hour for 25 days.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH WHALING?

The Norwegian government’s own data shows us that 1 in 5 of these whales don’t die immediately, and in some cases, death can be prolonged for over an hour. There is simply no humane way to kill a whale at sea.

Our new briefing, produced with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, shows that Norwegian law simply would not allow a cow or a pig to be killed by being blown up with explosives, so why is this considered an acceptable way to kill whales?

The WSPA - part of the Whalewatch coalition of over 140 NGOs in 55 countries - believes that this inhumane practice must stop.

WHAT CAN I DO?

The Norwegian Society for the Protection of Animals (one of WSPA’s member societies) has recently launched a campaign for Norwegians to ask Prime Minister Stoltenberg why Norway allows the inhumane practice of whaling, and what he will do to stop the cruelty.

We need your help to show the Norwegian Prime Minister that the welfare of Norway’s whales is of global concern.

For every whale Norway has killed in 2007 we’re dedicating an hour of petition time. When the 25 days are up we will take the petition to Prime Minister Stoltenberg, to make your views heard. Norway believes that there is little opposition to their whaling: help us show them otherwise.

:orange:PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION HERE. :orange:

Whales contribute to global warming, justice is being served.
:iconcanis-fabula:
Just a question though, for thought, which species will/would disappear if you take humans out of the picture?
:iconzerocomplex:
I hear polar bears are having a hard time, those are cute so it's serious!
:iconcanis-fabula:
Yeah. Last year, I saw on tv that they were starving because the sea where they were supposed to cross to get food didn't freeze for a month or so.

Thanks for reading the news! Take care!

Thank you for your support!!!
