The Seven Deadly Sins.
Lust.
Gluttony.
Greed.
Sloth.
Wrath.
Envy.
Pride.
We're all familiar with them. But can you show them in a photograph? How would you embody them?
Can you distinguish between gluttony and greed and show their differences? Can you find them in nature? Can you stir their feelings to the viewer to the point where every time someone thinks of one of those, they can only imagine your picture?
I want to see them.
Show me what they're like.
This contest is about creativity in photography. Think abstractly, but show me in a non-abstract photo. I don't want to see a picture of a brick and someone title it "Sloth." That shows me nothing. But if you can find a tree in the middle of a forest that stands by itself and screams out "I'm the King of the Trees" and call it "Pride" Show me that. With that example, I don't want to see a gazillion pictures of a lone tree in a forest. Be original!
Rules:
-They
MUST be photographs.
-Each picture must be submitted after this contest has been posted. Anything before that time will be disqualified.
-Minor editing is accepted, darkroom type editing. Nothing that can be thought of as photomanipulation.
-Seven pictures per deviant. All seven sins must be represented or you will be disqualified.
-One picture per sin. More than one of each sin will disqualify you immediately.
-If your first sin is a picture of people, then the rest must be of people. If it's of nature, the rest must be of nature. Et cetera. The pictures have themes, keep with it if you start out your sinful theme with one type of photography.
-Detailed description of each photo
MUST be there. If all I see for a description is anything like "..." , "Seven Deadly Sins: Envy", or "For akumaneko's Seven Deadly Sins contest" you will be disqualified. I want
DETAILED descriptions of the photos explaining why they represent each sin. Do your research, know your subject. I hate not knowing why people think their titles fit their pictures, even if it's somewhat self-explanatory.
-Also, putting in your description information about your camera is wanted. It's not required, but it will help to show me that you care about bettering your photography. What's the make, model and the settings you used? (This helps me to grow as a photographer, too. I learn from what others do to perfect their art)
-Since there will be seven different deviations per deviant, I would prefer one note per deviant with all seven links once they are all complete. I don't want to be flooded with 2304934589345 different notes per person.
This is a huge project, one that will take time for each person to complete fully.
Keeping that in mind, the
Deadline for this contest will be January 1st, 2008. That's nearly three months to get these right. Submit as many as you want on your page to get your critique and perfect them. Only once you are completely satisfied with one picture from each sin can you send me a note with the submissions.
Now the fun part...
