More and more I see people who give really short replies to deviations. Id like to see some more critique to help people improve...


What?
Well, people who reply with "very good!", "love it!", "nice colors" or any other very short reply. But worse then a short reply... a reply that is only super positive.
Of course there is 'efect' art, but most of the times there is room for improvement, if there is... then tell them!
Giving critique isnt evil, on the contrary, it helps people to improve since you show them what they can do better next time. They will learn from it!


How?
So, how can I give critique in a good way? Its called constructive criticism.
A nice description of constructive criticism:
Constructive criticism (often shortened to 'CC' or 'concrit' is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner. This kind of criticism is often a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards.

Because of the overuse of negative, nagging criticism, some people become defensive even when receiving constructive criticism given in a spirit of good will. Constructive criticism is more likely to be accepted if the criticism is focused on the recipient's work or behavior. That is, personality issues must be avoided as much as is possible.

So if you know someone on dA in reallife aswell, look at the work as if you dont, even if he or she is afriend of you (and normally you might have said something like "nice work! I like it!".

Back to the 'how'. As we read before, you say something you like, and something you dont about the deviation. Its that simple!
