I Can Has Cheezburger is looking for artists to participate in a formal LOLcat art show - the first Internet meme art movement of its kind. The exhibit will open on Thursday, October 23rd in San Francisco.

Each artist will create work inspired by LOLcats in any media.

"Save the Artist!" Open Studio will be held for 3D, 2D, and Digital Artist, Christian Motola, He has been in the art world for over 20 years and has worked on 3D models for films as well as creating every kind of 2D and 3D Digital art you can imagine from oil paintings to life like, animated robots, people, monsters, etc. Christian is new to the San Francisco Bay Area and is ecstatic about this chance to present and sell his artwork to all of you. Join us for a wonderful night of food, drink, live flute music--by Megan Appletree, and artwork from around the world!

When? Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 6pm to 10pm PST

Calling all comics readers and enthusiast! Do you want to learn how to draw, color, edit and write like your favorite comics creator? Then grab this opportunity to become a comics creator yourself. Join the 5th Annual Manila Comics Creation Seminar and learn from the best local and international comic artists of Glass House Graphics like David Campiti, Jeffrey Huet, Jonathan Lau, Carlo Pagulayan, Stephen Segovia, Harvey Tolibao, Wilson Tortosa, Tina Francisco, Jinky Coronado, Ernest Jocson, Jay David Ramos, Rainier Beredo and others.

Many young Filipinos have tried creating their own comics yet some of them have very few readers. In this seminar, speakers will teach you not only how to draw the right way but also how to market your comics creations. Turn your comics from ordinary to marvelously extra-ordinary.

The Manila Comics Creation Seminar has been running even before comic-based movies and television shows became popular again. For three years, they've helped young comics creators further their knowledge and skills. This two-day seminar includes modules in anatomy, layout and story telling, perspective, manga styles, coloring, inking, penciling, and selling your comics to editors and publishers. History of comics and the do’s and don’ts in this field plus many other topics will also be discussed.

The seminar will also have a forum discussion with guest artists who will share their experiences and give inspirational lectures for the young and upcoming comics creators. There will be comic booth selling of new and back issue copies of favorite popular titles, sponsors’ booth exhibiting their comic related items, live modeling and drawing activity, raffle draws, comics-based films, illustration and sequential comics contest, comic art sharing and many other exciting activities for the two-day seminar.

Mr. David Campiti , international writer (Superman, Jade Warriors, Angel Heat, Exposure, etc . ), editor, publisher and global talent agent, will spearhead the instructional art convention and will conduct a one-on-one portfolio review, and talent search. Campiti will choose lucky participants to join in their international team of professional comics artists. Glasshouse Graphics Inc., represents an impressive pool of talents of over 100 worldwide, led by Brazilian artists Mike Deodato ( penciler of Spider-Man, Batman, Wonder Woman etc., ) and Luke Ross ( penciler of Uncanny X-Men, Lost in Space, etc .); and Filipino artists in the name of Wilson Tortosa ( penciler of Battle of the Planets, Tomb Raider, etc. ), Carlo Pagulayan ( penciler of Elektra, Emma Frost, Hulk, Fantastic Four etc .) and a many more artists known for their exceptional talents in the field of Arts and Comic Book illustration.

To be eligible, simply submit a .jpeg iamge files of your portfolio containing 8 sequential pages and 2 cover type illustration. Submission deadline will be on October 21, 2007.





The 5th Annual Manila Comics Creation Seminar is set on October 27-28, 2007, 10AM-8PM at 5th Level, Bldg. B, SM Megamall Megatrade Hall, Conference Center Function Room B. The seminar fee for two days is priced at Php 1,000 inclusive of meals, drawing materials, raffle giveaways, and a one on one portfolio review with the comic artists.
