1 Stock photograph vs Endless photomanips - vol. 1

*waterproofvelvet:iconwaterproofvelvet: reports, September 15, 2007
The more I was encountering this picture, the more I was wondering how many versions there could be. Out of curiosity I began to track down this girl sitting on her swing. Below are the results of my quest. I certainly have overlooked some; but there are enough to learn a lesson in photomanipulation and maybe gain some new ideas to reinvent all over again this shot.

You could do the same thing with any number of pieces of stock.. not quite sure what you are getting at with this...

Its not how many pieces are created, but how well and with how much creativity, and kudos to the people who can use the same stock and create completely different unique atmospheres and scenes. Theres not one piece you've highlighted there that doesn't stand out on its own as an excellent manip...

I was struck by the popularity of this particular piece. Why this one? What's so special about it? Why does it trigger such an overwhelming response? I agree with you when you say that other stock is also used by many people around; but not as often as this one. Besides this selection easily shows how artists, while influencing each other, nevertheless manage to add something else to their respective works. Whether or not those manips are of good quality is not the point and everyone will appraise them in a different way. Or not.

I completely agree with your comment..and I think this shows how manipulation can be a mass-production instrument..like little cakes from made from the same mould..
