10 ways to Express Art – Part V

=Derzorvadur:iconDerzorvadur: reports, 1d 13h ago
The project started as a mean to collect amazing artists all around deviant in a random way or as well for already personal recognition of the same, this is ONLY for the sake of art, no favoritism or popularity has anything to do with this, only REAL good art will enter in these articles, and the art exposed in here is what we personally consider the best of the best.

The Best of September Visual Art!

`karemelancholia:iconkaremelancholia: reports, October 7
Now it's time for September 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!

Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it!
Fave Fave Fave!
My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations.
Artists need to be supported.
So don't be shy!

Visit their pages, support them by faving, commenting, and when you see a deviation that you like also view their gallery entirely, like that you can decide if you will devwatch them or not.
Viewing only a deviation (what is great) is not enough ;-)

And if you want to see your favorite visual artists or art selected to be in this feature for the next month, send me via note the links/thumbs!

:pointr: You can see the previous features here, in the Index i've created!

Recent Dedications (you'll be blown away...!)

To All True Americans...

*WrongState:iconWrongState: reports, September 22, 2007
I've seen photos here and there of people, photographers and Models using the American flag as a prop, as a material, as something to depict your dedication do the United States. Okay I understand your intent, and I understand you think it's your way of showing your respect to the ole' Red, White, and Blue. BUT everyone of you must understand the point of view of one (and well many that voted on this), that there are those of us that defend this beautiful star spangled banner that just don't see it as a garb or as a prop.
There have been a few of you that I directed to the site that states the Federal regulation on use of the US flag, and most of you just blow me off. That is your choice. However, it is in direct violation of a Federal code. Sure I don't' see the police knocking on your door anytime soon, or someone coming up to you punching you in the forehead for misuse of our flag, I'm here to inform you of this -
[link]
FLAG LAWS AND REGULATIONS continued

§176. Respect for the Flag

No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

(c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.

(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

(e) The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way.

(f) The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.

(g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

(h) The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.

(i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

(k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

I'm sorry but I have to laugh at such hypocritical non-sense...

USA is really one hell of a strange country as are many of its inhabitants...

Well, I received that this article rather as a loud scream "don't do that! it is baaad!".

Well, everybody has his own creative rights and I think that creative rights are more important than law.

During the art classes we used to steal random stuff to put it into our collages. It was approved and we were never questioned :)

What a sad state that it has laws about its flag! Please tell me these Laws & Regulations have only come in under the madman George W.

Exactly, laws are just that: laws.

Everyone has his/her principles and that very law is not among it.

It's just a flag. Who cares this much? Those are some of the stupidest "laws" I've ever seen. Try telling some of that to people who hang their flag in a bedroom window or on the wall or a mini version from their car antenna. Etc, etc.

Crazy over-obsessed Americans.

you just opened a can of worms - people would critize you about nudity as art as they have freedom of their body in contrast between person's right and decision and flag have no right of its own as an object. We need to honor God not honor things or judge others.
