Alright, so welcome to another edition of Mini-DDs...The hit feature (well, depending on your definition of "hit") that honors some of this site's amazing pieces of DD-worthy artwork!

Now, some of you may have noticed from the number up there that this is the 50th edition I've done in the news. So I guess you're all hoping for a big celebration, right?

Eh, actually...No. For those of you just tuning in, I'd like to explain to you that I had actually done this for a while now out of my journal before moving into the news as well. So what you're seeing here is actually around my 70th collection of Mini-DDs!

If you still wish that there was a big shebang here, though, then I direct you to Vol. 30, which was the one-year anniversary special!

So basically, I hope that clears up any confusion, & if you still want a big shebang pulled off here again, then I suggest tuning in next week for my Birthday Special! I'm doing this with a little help from all of you as well, so if you want in on the action, make sure to check out last week's suggestion for all the details. Really. Come on, it'll be fun! Alright, enough trying to make it stick out in order to promote it. I do have some faith, after all...

Alright, so with that done for now, let's get on with the meat & potatoes of this extravaganza! After all, this is what you came here for...Right?

Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...


When =wirestyle first showed us all a small preview of Battle of the Moles, I somehow just knew that it would be something so wicked that I had to feature it. A surprise, surprise, the end result is one eye-popping piece of work, loaded with some funky & cute designs, some great effects, a nice amount of detail...& of course, it's just plain damn fun to look at. Plus, it's about battling gangs of breakdancing moles. Now how can you resist anything with a concept like that? How, I say, how?



You just have to love how much imagination & talent is put into a design as cool as the foreign legion by ~A-J-Mohacsy. With some great colors, a nice style, some sweet details (love the little things like the rain & the grass) & a surrealish feeling to it all, this is one lovely little Vector gem from another fresh DA face that definitely deserves a place in your faves.



Sometimes all you just need is one wicked character design to make a memorable piece of work...& Slasher Bat is Back by ~Slasher12 is a fine example of that indeed. A simple drawing, but one that's just very well done with a cool style...And everything from the pose to the expression to the anatomy is executed perfectly as well, making for one mighty fine character piece you shouldn't miss out on.



*VonToten just seems to have this unique & eye-pleasing style that makes for some very impressive cartoons (& fan art)...Just like with Xixa a Go-Go, a fun, free-wheeling, colorful, & action-filled Deviation that perfectly does the title character justice. Everything from the background to the perspective is just pulled off so amazingly here, & overall it makes for one sweet piece of work...VT, you should be proud, dammit.



Colorful! Manic! Cute! Crazed! Psychedelic! Trippy! Eye-catching! Those are just a few of the words that I can use to easily describe Digital love by ~j90, but all you really need to know about it is that with it's barrage of vibrant colors, twisted & fun little designs, & the "visual high" feeling it just seems to give you, there's really no way you can resist this. So just submit to the colors already...



*vmaximus is yet another artist with a gallery full of so many amazing pieces that it was hard to just pick one to feature here...But Stone Faces 1 won out in the end. A unique & psychedelic twist on the classic duo of comedy & tragedy, this is something just drawn so amazingly well with a wide variety of colors & several cool little designs & details...Well, much like the animals in this picture, you too may be entranced by how eye-catching this is overall.



Popcorn Madness by *raygirl...Well, it features giant popcorn, imps, & space monkeys. Those three elements alone would make for one interesting piece of work, but raygirl ends up combining them to make one very cool Deviation. A simple drawing with a cool style, some nice character designs, & an attractive color scheme, this is one nice beauty that deserves all the attention it gets...



stampede cries by *BenjaminCee...Well, I have no real idea what it's about, yet it's so whacked-out that I just can't stop staring at it. And I mean all of that in a good way, of course. Creative, trippy, colorful, nicely drawn, & so very odd & mesmerizing...This is just yet another amazing piece of surreal artowkr from this talented artist's gallery, so fave this baby & go check the rest out already!



MEMENTO MORI by *Jabbarwock...Wow. I am just at a loss for words here, dammit. This is one drawing that's just so twisted & out-there that coming up with accurate words to describe how cool it is just seems a little near-impossible. At the very least, though, I can say that is one creative, well-designed, & well-drawn piece of work...Plus, you just gotta love that whole "macabre sunset" feeling. Just gotta.
