Vexelicious: The Features #15

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, July 9
This is the fifteenth Vexelicious feature article. As the name suggests, this article will be all about vexels. It is divided into three parts: DD's given in May and April, Vexels uploaded in May and April, and Themed Vexels.

What a Vexel Is: The Official dA Definition

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, July 7
Influenced by recent dispute, it has been decided that it is time to make a solidified definition of what a vexel is by deviantART's terms. Please understand that this definition, and the rules along with it, are not made up from a few of the gallery moderator's thoughts, but built from the foundation of what the creator's words on 'vexel' were, and what the majority of the vexel community of deviantART has come to accept as a vexel. These rules are solid, final, and most-likely will not be faltered.

Artist Relations Newsletter - September 24, 2007

$Moonbeam13:iconMoonbeam13: reports, September 24, 2007

:iconmoonbeam13:

Hello!

The purpose of Artist Relations is to strengthen the community spirit as well as network with fellow artists so that we may bring outside opportunities to you, and help you to hone your skills. The Gallery Directors are the first people you should go to regarding your galleries. They are the people you need to make gallery suggestions to, and ask questions about your specific genre, or seek knowledge from. They also act as your lifeline to the administration. They are here to support and listen, and I can tell you we've got incredibly talented, devoted and passionate people on this team, so get to know them!

News

:bulletgreen: Please join us in welcoming ^emciem and ^archanN who will be running the show in wallpaper :) ^FallenRox will be taking up the reigns with Film and ^zilla774? well he's frying bigger fish down the hall, when we can tell you more on that we will.

:bulletgreen: Horror & Macabre (photography) is now being handled by ^arachnid15 and pin up has been picked up by ^Ghouldaddy alongside the galleries they currently deal with.

:bulletgreen: The galleries are represented on dAmn! If you head over to my journal and look to the right you'll see a journal module under the AR team roster. Join your favorite genre or come and join us at #AR

:bulletgreen: If you click on the 'report policy violation' link you will notice that it now has a 'miscategorization' option. Please use this if you are reporting something that is in the wrong gallery, so my team can handle it quickly :) Thank you.

:bulletgreen: If your deviation is relocated please read the FAQ in the note that is sent to you automatically by the system. FAQ #634: Why was my deviation relocated or moved? reads:

Why was my deviation relocated or moved?

During the course of their day many gallery directors browse the galleries and when they discover something which seems to be in the wrong place or in the wrong gallery they will remove the work from that incorrect area.

Many times the gallery director in question will place your deviation into your Scraps area where you may move it again later at your leisure. Occasionally your deviation may be placed in what the gallery director believes to be a more correct gallery but more often than not you will be left with the option to move your submission from your Scraps to a more appropriate gallery than your original choice.

If you have any questions about the exact reason that your deviation was moved you may contact the Help Desk where your inquiry will be forwarded to someone who can speak with you about the matter.

There is nothing intending to be offensive in this practice or the note sent, yet I constantly get people screaming bloody murder at me in the Help Desk and really its unnecessary. If you wish to discuss it, that's fine but drop the hostility because it's not helping matters.

:bulletgreen: Fractal Art has a new forum located here

:bulletgreen: I've seen an increase in discussion about the Portfolio Project and rumors that it's dead. Well I'm happy to tell you it's not dead. It's on the docket to be completed shortly but we have some things that need to be finished first. It will be sooner rather than later so hold on :)

:bulletgreen: Project Streamline is a project my team is currently working on to reduce the amount of redundancy and confusing categories on the site. We currently report just over 1800 categories and for someone who's been here a while, I get confused. I cannot imagine how that translates to someone new joining the site, I would assume it's overwhelming. My team goes to the community for feedback so make sure you're paying attention to your gallery directors and taking part in any needed discussions.

:bulletgreen: Keep a watchful eye on the deviantART News section for a pretty fantastic initiative coming soon. "What's that?", you ask? Intrigued are you? Will it help if we say it has the potential to change your deviant experience? Bring you knowledge that can increase your potential? Be fun and exciting and a chance to WIN stuff? Does that make you less intrigued? Aww...too bad. You will have to wait, for PROJECT: ???????. You didn't think we would ruin it by giving out the NAME did you?

:bulletgreen: Do you have a cause? Are you or someone you love fighting an illness that more people need to be educated about? If so, send your story and/or your cause to *ItDoesNotHaveMe We will be using this account to help educate the community about these issues but we need your input and participation for it to be successful :)

:bulletgreen: I have noticed an increase in people sending notes to myself or my gallery directors to report policy and copyright violations. Please file help desk tickets for this. My team does not deal directly with violations and it's absolutely necessary to keep running records of instances that occur, so we will direct you back to the help desk to ensure proper protocol. Thank you.

Since you are working on the categories, might I suggest a "book arts" or at least "paper arts" category under Artisan crafts? Right now there is nowhere to put bookbinding, art papr or anything made of paper. Origami would fit under Papre arts but it's too specific for any other to fit underneath it. Thanks for bearing that in mind!

If I fav and run, it's because I like it and don't have any constructive critique, get over it.

Nice going with the relocating idea. I think it'll make it easier when we occasionally (for me more often than not :P) screw up where our pieces should go.
