Heroes surround us even better than Dolby System’s. Among other features, they nurture our spirits through the path of life; allow our steps to turn into something meaningful for each of us and to our future; powder us with beauty-dust and ease the pain of misunderstanding, rejection and despair. They are here to help us grow better, together, with love. They do so, much of the times, without having the self-awareness of their power and its reach; without knowing they are meaningful and helpful to someone.

They give without asking something in return, they are saviours and, sometimes, martyrs; they are inspiring and thru that they save you, either from boredom or from a life you don’t want for yourself.

They can be anybody or anything: a thought, a book, a cat, a friend, a teacher, a fire-fighter, a soldier, a writer, an artist, a school-bus driver, an actor, a mountain-hiker, a comedian, a survivor, parents (yours or anybody’s), a comic’s character, a deviant or even yourself… You get the picture already!


I think everyone’s familiarized with the saying: A Hero doesn’t need to have superpowers to be one! That, in fact, it’s not what a hero needs to have, but what he/she needs to be!


So, the first challenge of this contest is to acknowledge your hero!

Sometimes we all know who our heroes are, but mind can play tricks on us and make us believe we got none. So, first you need to answer these questions:
Who is my hero? and Why?
What is my hero?
How is my hero?
But, most of all, you should ask yourself: “What did I ever do to let my hero knows how much he/she means to me?”


Then, with your answers in mind (and noted for further more you have to write them) you are ready for the second challenge of this contest.


The second challenge asks you to be faithful to this contest’s spirit: to do a tribute to your own personal hero and give it to her/him if possible!
It can be anything: from a poem reading to a surprise picnic, passing thru a print of a picture you both like, etc, etc, etc… Whatever you do will be great, if it is made by YOU!


The third challenge of this contest is to make a deviation about your hero! It can be in form of a tribute, but it doesn’t need to. Here your own concept to take in mind is the question Who is your hero?

This is a must-rule: * It will be fun to let everyone know why your hero is your hero, and what you did as a tribute to your hero! You have to do so in “artist’s comments” in the description of the deviation, and you can also let everyone know, in a reply to the journal of entries or even in your own journal, the reaction of your hero to your tribute (if you did manage to give it to him/her/it)!


Summary of the Who is your hero? Contest:

Find a way to represent your concept of a hero in a deviation. Be bold and original!

Accepted media: Photography, Digital Art (including Photomanipulation), Traditional Art and Wallpaper.

Rules:

- The deviation has to be new. I won’t accept any deviation that was made before September 22. If you understand the concept of this contest you’ll understand why. If not, please read it again carefully.

- You have to state why your hero is your hero and to let us know who is.

- You really have to pass thru the 3 phases/challenges of the contest in order to enter the contest, and after you do it, please send me the URL (link) to this journal: Who's Your Hero? - A Challenging Contest . Do it until Dec 10. I won’t accept anything after that! If you don’t know what is a link and how you can give send it to me then ask me and I’ll be glad to help – or look it up in the devart’s FAQ!

- Read the contest’s journal periodically for updates, either on prizes, judges or rules.
