The search for a cure has, so far, been a futile and frustrating endeavor. Although we have taken several steps that have lead to successful treatments of cancer, we have not as-of-yet found a drug that will kill cancer cells without very grave side-effects. At the University of Alberta located in Edmonton Alberta, Canada, the Department of Medicine has taken a huge leap in their research.
Extensive testing on a drug known as dichloroacetate, or DCA, has uncovered that the drug will stop the growth of cancer cells while leaving healthy cells virtually untouched. Funding for the continued research of the drug is limited, as it is not patented. Dr. Evangelos Michelakis and his team are currently relying on publicly funded agencies and donations.
If there were a magic bullet, though, it might be something like dichloroacetate, or DCA
