Hi everyone,
have you heard about the crisis in Burma?
Burma is ruled by one of the worst military dictatorships in the world.
A few days ago Buddhist monks and nuns began marching and chanting prayers to call for democracy!
The protests grew to hundreds of thousands of people, but the military is brutally attacking the monks and people, killing many.
When the Burmese last marched in 1988, the military massacred thousands. But if the world stands up and supports their struggle, this time they could succeed.
But they are back on the street, which in my eyes has to be supported!
****** PLEASE HELP THE MNIMUM, IT'S QUICK AND EASY: *****
I just signed a petition calling on Burma's powerful ally China and the
UN Security Council to pressure Burma's rulers to stop the killing. The petition has exploded
to over 200,000 signatures in a few days and is being advertized in newspapers around the world,
delivered to the UN Secretary General, and broadcast over radio to the Burmese people.
We're trying to get to 1 million signatures this week,
please simply sign below (just mail and name is enough) and tell everyone!

Being a Singaporean in SE Asia, this is really a crisis close to home. I hope they are able to break out of their cycle of oppression.

The taxi driver's entire family is over in Burma, but he'll probably never see them again. He's afraid that as soon as he sets foot on Burmese soil he'll be sent to prison. Last time he returned to Burma, he ended up paying thousands of dollars of money to return to Australia, simply because the government demanded it of him.
Anyway, I felt like crying at his story. Let's do something about it.
