Okay, so welcome to a special edition of Mini-DDs! Today was my birthday, & as usual, I went out & celebrated it with my family...Now it's time to celebrate it here! And just like
last year, I'm doing it by asking some choice Deviants for some of their all-time favorites here at DA (little presents, if you will), & then featuring 23 of them for my 23rd birthday (now think of them as the candles)!
Sorry about the little delay, by the way...I had a dinner to go to. Plus, I was sure I'd end up getting some last-minute suggestions...Guess what? I did get some!! Besides, since DA's on Los Angeles time, it's still Sepetember 30th in the eyes of this site anyway!
So let's get this party started already! First off, I'd like to thank the friends & fellow Deviants who suggested some of their favorites to me, making all of this possible...

Bravo to all of you! You helped me out a damn lot, & you all deserve a little something for your work...
The Golden Jark Award. A symbol of community spirit & great taste in art. Truly a symbol of honor...That also has a while chocolate center! And because it's my birthday, this time around it comes with a slice of ice cream cake! Mmmm!
Huh...But that just doesn't seem like enough...This is a special day, & I want to top what I did last year. So I say it's time for...
Party games!!!
*Imagine the Bonus Stage music from Super Mario World playing in the background*
Alright, so it's one party game, really...A little "Wheel of Chance".
Time for a little surprise...
I'm going to randomly give one of the contributors mentioned above a three-month subscription!! Not much, but I'll give what I can...& if the winner doesn't want a subscription, they'll get some prints worth the same amount of cash...Or whatever DA-related stuff I can! Consider it a little "goodie bag" you get for joining the party. ^_^
Alright, let's get those eleven names on the wheel...Ready now...Let 'er rip!!
*click*click*click*click*click*
*click*...*click*...*click*...
*click*......*click*......
And the winnah is...
*XxMurderdollxX!!!
Congrats, man! Just tell me what prize you'd like, & I will deliver!
*Imagine the music ending as Mario turns & flashes the peace sign*
Alright, so there we just had the pre-show...Now on to the main event of this party!
Okay, so the twenty-three featured artists are getting a little something special this time around as well...Bring out the
Platinum Fefcaine Award!
...An even more prestigious token of appreciation for anyone who created some amazing, DD-worthy artwork. Hey, this time around you impressed more than just me! For that, now you get a dark chocolate center! And a piece of ice cream cake as well! Gotta love it...
Alright, the stage is set now...So let the festivities begin! Here are this week's special Mini-DDs...

A fun tribute to one of the greatest games ever made,
Mega Man 2's Eight Bosses by ~
yooki42 is an amazing piece of art that pays tribute to some classic Robot Masters in such a slick & cool style. Frankly, if you don't fall in love with this cartoony little number, then you may honestly be braindead.
(Suggested by ~Gryphonwing)
...And straight out of a promo for
The Outer Limits comes
we are watched by ~
alexandreev. A little creepy, a little surreal, a little humorous...In a way, it's a simple concept, but it seems to offer so much more. And any amazing piece of work that can pull that off deserves at least some respect...
(Suggested by *XxMurderdollxX)
Candy Machine by ~
mortalitas...Well, I will say that this definitely feels like the result of what would happen if you mixed LSD & taffy. I'll also say that this is an eye-catching, smooth, & colorful piece of abstract art, & one that definitely deserves a spot in your favourites.
(Suggested by ~MidnightCity)
Mixing anthro artwork with fantasy elements tends to produce interesting results...& in the case of
Watching landscape by ~
JadeGL, it also results in one impressive painting featuring a great style & some cool character designs. Don't pass up on this one!
(Suggested by ~Gryphonwing)
Furious Angels by *
kimbo-demonica...It does help if you've listened to the song as well, but much like the title suggests, this is one amazing painting that perfectly showcases both beauty & power with such an eye-catching piece of work. Bravo, kimbo!
(Suggested by *XxMurderdollxX)
Right off the bat,
Dolphin by ~
b0tack hit me with a barrage of intense, vibrant colors & a trippy psychedelic style that was so hard, it took me a few minutes to actually notice the dolphins. That is just some captivating & mind-blowing stuff there, dammit...So props to it!
(Suggested by ~goemonsama)
I have always admired *
klar's work quite a bit...He creates works of fantasy such as
lambs and incense with quite a passion, utilizing a neat style, great characters, & perfect colors as to make it all seem as though it came out of some classic book of fairy tales...Just so damn sweet.
(Suggested by *XxMurderdollxX)
Tank V2 by ~
GraphicStreetRacer is the kind of abstract art I like the most...Nice & colorful, crammed full of detail, featuring some nice designs, & drawn with such a flow to it that it becomes impossible for you to take your eyes off it. Quite some trippy & amazing stuff indeed...
(Suggested by ~ishmeep)
Requiem by ~
hf-zilch...Wow. I really have no words to describe how amazing this is...It's just beautiful overall. Beautiful. Everything from the woman to the sky to background to the demon(?) is just so beautifully drawn & detailed...Actually, it's more like a mix of chaos & beauty, but that just makes it even more intriguing...
(Suggested by ~ShenTsumi)
Futurama: Super Happy Fun Show by *
spacecoyote...Well, the mere fact that this is a pic of the cast of one the best damn cartoons ever made might've been enough to get it a spot here. But drawn so astoundingly well with such a funky style & an amazing attention to detail (Seymour!), it just becomes irresistible. Damn irresistible.
(Suggested by ~MidnightCity)
flame by ~
edgarguest...Because anything that prominently feature giant flame-spewing monsters is a-ok in my book! Oh, & that fact that it's a damn fine drawing that perfectly feels like it came out of some twisted storybook doesn't hurt, either.
(Suggested by ~goemonsama)
Well, what is there to say about
Banquet by ~
jeffsimpsonkh that hasn't been already said? This dark, twisted, & surreal sushi party is something you shouldn't miss out on...It's all just pulled off so perfectly, & 100% deserving of any attention it gets. Just so freaky & cool...
(Suggested by *SleepDep)
They say you should never judge a book by it's cover...But let's face it,
Snowball in Hell Cover by =
alexds1 is just so damn fun on it's own, it makes you wanna go out & get your hands on the actual comic. Funky characters, sweet style, cool colors...It's just so damn fine that you can't resist faving this! Bonus points for the cat's expression!
(Suggested by *XxMurderdollxX)
Pegasus Divided by ~
apocryph...Oh man. This is just so gloriously twisted, haunting, attractive, & mesmerizing...I just knew this was a winner the second I laid eyes upon it. It sort feels like some psychedelic hard rock song...I can practically hear "Black Hole Sun" playing in the background...Bravo, dammit!
(Suggested by =baKIN)
Jokes & internet memes aside,
This is Spartaaaaaa by *
VinRoc is a glorious piece of fan art. It's just drawn so damn perfectly, from the pose to the background & every little detail, that it feels like it could practically be a cover to the actual comic book. Just wow...
(Suggested by *XxMurderdollxX)
*
beaucoupzero, you always know how to deliver when it comes to the psychedelic arts!
Everything trippy is nicely twisted, smooth, & perfectly drawn, but what really seels this is the way it feels like some otherworldly constellation...It's just so damn unique & awe-inspiring. Frigging amazing, dammit...
(Suggested by ~Gryphonwing)
Let's face it, sometimes you just come across a Deviation that makes you go "Awww..." so much that you just have to fave it...&
My Cookie... by *
ChakotayDgryphon is definitely that Deviation. Cute as can be, but also drawn very damn nicely with quite a nice amount of detail, right down to all the little grooves in the Oreo. If you don't end up loving this...Then you have no soul.
(Suggested by =Hexaditidom)
Well, I do have a bit of a
Camp Lazlo addiction going on right now, so this was a no-brainer. Seriously,
Pirates Of The Leaky Lake 2 by ~
DrewBlueberry is just pure fun, plain & simple. So nicely colorful, stylish, & humorous...All I have to say is that Joe Murray would defintiely be proud.
(Suggested by *SleepDep)
I just simply
love artwork such as
Bat Girl by ~
Aazure-Dragon. Unique character designs, cool concept, cartoonish style, somewhat surreal & otherworldly, fantastical feeling...You just gotta love everything this has to offer. Just gotta.
(Suggested by ~bipolar-wolfcat)
I would gladly pay through the nose to see a hundred more pieces of anthro art (or any art, for that matter) like
Sunaro by *
jinsonlygurl. An amazing style, a creative & cool character design, some great colors & details...It's just all so nicely done, & definitely worthy of all the faves it can get.
(Suggested by =Mad-Cheshire)
You've gotta love an artist such as *
purpleglovez who shows pride in all of
Her Creations...So many fun characters & designs, all wrapped up in one attractive drawing with a nice mix of style, some great lineart, & some sweet colors & details. Just simply amazing...
(Suggested by ~MidnightCity)
Adult Pullo by ~
gottschalk. I don't really know what it is...But man, it's just so beautiful, twisted, unique & a little surreal that you can't resist it. Such a sweet character design as well...I can only imagine the story behind this guy...All in all, this is one impressive piece of work you need to check out.
(Suggested by =baKIN)
Well, I thought I'd end this little special occasion on a first...The first piece of 3-Dimensional Art to be featured here.
Regal by =
Donut007 is just so out there, funky, & beautiful, right down to the barrage of orange & the twinkling stars...Truly one that deserve all the attention it can get.
...& that's all for this week! If you have any comments, suggestions, etc., they'd be greatly appreciated! I hope you've all liked what I've featured this week. I certainly did (no surprise there, though)! This was definitely fun to pull off, & I enjoyed seeing what everyone had to offer...
...But it'll pale in comparison to what I have in the works for the end of 2007.
Anyhow, I'll be back next week with nine more DD-worthy works of art! Sayanora until then! ^_^
