It's all about Music Contest by =Cataclysm-X

To celebrate my 3rd anniversary at dA and the 100.000th pageview which I'll hit soon, I decided to go for a contest! Since this will be a small party for some of us, I'll be giving away some nice prizes.

At this contest the assignment will have to do something with the subject: Music
To me, music has always been a big influence. While listening to music I like to come up with new ideas or I work on an artwork. A lot of my deviations are named after a song and (parts of) the lyrics were written down in the description. Just because I like that specific song or because it just fits really well to the drawing.


The Assignment

Create an artwork based upon a song you like!

It's that easy



Rules

- You need to create an artwork which represents a band, musician, a feeling or a scene, which is based upon lyrics or a song you like.

- To give you a few ideas:

you can write a story or poem based upon a lyric

you can draw your favourite musician who wrote the song/lyric you like

you can photograph the feeling you get when you hear a specific song

you can paint a scene from a movie and tell me why you think that song/lyric fits well to that specific scene

you can think about anything else as long as it is related to a song or lyrics you like

Any type of art is welcome. If you feel like you can express yourself by drawing manga, anime, a portrait, photography, poem, sculpture, drawing, comic or anything else, feel free to do so!

- Write down the title, lyrics and musician/band in the description of your entry and explain why you chose it.

- Name your entry after a song.

- You don't have to me to compete (though I would be thankful if you did )!!!

- You are allowed to send a maximum of 2 entries.

Photograph based upon a part of a lyric


How to join

1.) Send a note to my main account =Cataclysm-X with the subject 'contest entry'.

2.) Your note needs to contain the link to your entry, which is specially made for this contest!

3.) The description of your entry needs an explanation of the lyrics/artwork relationship (why the lyrics fit well to your deviation).

4.) Your entry will be accepted if you followed the rules.


Prizes

1st: a free commission on A4 (worth a €69,- / $100,-) + 1 month feature journal
2nd: a free commission on A5 (worth a €50,- / $70,-) + 1 month feature journal
3rd: a small present + 1 month feature journal

Entries won't be judged upon beauty only, but also upon originality/concept/idea!
I'll be the judge so things will be going fair and square.


Deadline

Deadline will be my 20th birthday: December 31st 2007!!!
So you'll get about 3 months to send your entries.
