Ghosts and Ghoulies Literature Contest
Halloween is my absolute favorite night of the year, and I do all that I can to celebrate. This time around, that includes hosting a contest/challenge in honor of all the scary critters come out to gather the free loot. I understand this is short notice, especially since I plan to make the closing date on the night of Halloween, but try your best to come up with something amazing!
Okay, Im interested. Whats the theme?
Ghosts, and ghoulies: Hence the title! I want you to write a poem or story that features these supernatural creatures in an original way. There are a million ways of making your piece interesting, such as using humor to make your story or poem effective or writing from a new perspective. Think Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King, and Roald Dahl mixed together. And remember, when I say ghosts and ghoulies, I mean dead people come back to life in a ghostly form, not vampires or aliens. This should involve ghosts as a main element.
Only literature is allowed to be submitted?
I feel like there should be a literature contest for Halloween! Dont you? So yes, only poetry and prose allowed.
What are the rules?
Thats pretty easy. There are only a few.
1. Your literature piece should be written for this contest, not prior to it.
2. If youre going to add gore and violence, remember to do it tastefully. Dont forget that this is about writing style and originality, not who ripped whose head off. (And dont forget to check off the mature context box before submitting.)
3. Only one submission per person
4. Keep on topic. Ghost and ghoulies. Just keep repeating that to yourself. Ghost, ghoulies, ghosts, ghoulies, ghosts ghoulies.
Any prizes?
Right now, I can offer all three winners (first, second, and third) a stamp (made by me) and a five month journal feature on both my account and my clubs account (*
Adopt-A-Writer). I will eagerly accept prize donations though! Anything you have to give would be very much appreciated.
Due date?
October 31st, but if need be, I will postpone it to a later date.
Whos judging?
That would be me.
How do I submit?
1. First, prepare the piece and proofread
2. Load it as a deviation into your gallery
3. Add the link of the deviation to the body of a note and send it with the subject of Halloween Contest Submission.
4. Yep, thats all that you have to do!
Im looking forward to seeing some interesting work from you. And remember, editing makes perfect!
Anything else?
Nope. You can get started now.

All updates will be posted on my main journal (=
WineWriter)

Each word equates a drop of blood
Each sentence drains a vein
Each stanza speeds my beating heart
Each couplet fends off the pain
